I am so glad I came across the discussion since on Amazon the book was not free and I wanted a kindle version. I am also thrilled to have another location to get free public domain books (University of Adelaide).

Given how long the book is I'll be going back and forth between reading the book and doing the audio version. I listened to a bit of the librivox recording (listed above) and it sounded good but also found an Overdrive MP3 version from my library with Nadia May as the narrator. I haven't listed to it yet...its still downloading...

I was thinking about buying the audible version that links to the kindle book but I didn't see that option pop up on any of the versions of this book...

78394 Oh and buying Kindle books are a LOT cheaper than paperback (especially if you sign up for newsletters) and takes up less space in the house and suitcase (when traveling)

78394 I have two kindles and LOVE LOVE LOVE them both. The first one I got was the kindle touch (equivalent to the paperwhite). I chose that one because I travel a lot and am often in places where either have no or limited access to electricity for a week at a time and those have the longest battery life.

I love the fact that I can highlight or take notes and then just review what I highlighted and I love having 1000 + books with me at all times.

I can also check out kindle library books and books on tape and download PDF maps and books.

I just got the newest kindle fire and would highly recommend that unless you can't recharge it daily. There are a ton of free books you can get and games. You can also play movies and music etc on it.

KINDLES FOR KIDS - A FANTASTIC IDEA
I also talked my sister into getting her two children under 2.5 (now almost 3) the fire. It is perfect for kids. The kids have had the kindle for about a year and just ordered the second one for christmas so both kids have their own. There are tons and tons of educational games and a lot of free books too. The oldest child calls it her's a "Kindle Book". One thing that I love about it is that since I have my sisters amazon user name and password (AND have more time) I can add new books and games at will (normally free ones) and even music (you add that to the cloud on amazon and you can purchase it or upload from your own cds). All of us met at Disney this month and before hand I was able to buy some Disney CDs and songs and download them onto the kids kindle. That way the kids knew the Disney songs before arriving.

Oh and there are even interactive story books that read to you and even turn the page (or you can do it yourself) and a lot of them are FREE

The 2.5 year old finds what I put on her kindle remotely on her own. Its great for a busy mom since the kids and I do all the work! We did purchase an expensive kid proof case for it (using amazon).

Oh and since we put the SECOND KINDLE FOR THE KIDS on the same account all of those games, books and movies can be transferred to the new one with a push of a button.

78394 I just went through 3-4 pages of the list and only read 10 or so of those books and the rest I had never heard of. Is that the same for everyone else or is it just me? I do tend to read classics, non fiction books and biographies though so maybe that is it and don't tend to read best sellers from any list other than non-fiction. I like to "learn" something about a different time, country or culture when I read.
Those of you who have read a lot of books from this list did you enjoy them? I am always looking for more books to read.
I have been working on several book lists myself like BBCs top love novels from the Big list and times list of the top 100 best loved novels and have really liked most of them.
