Jason wrote: "A little thing called The Fellowship of the Ring"Never heard of it. Is it recent?
S.E. wrote: "Derek, your review seemed "disaster"... That mean no Lint? "I can't muster the enthusiasm.
S.E. wrote: "I'm interested in how Lint approached this. Anyone here read the later volumes?"A very long time ago. I've just re-obtained book two and will start when I decide if
Image of the Beast Blown is a disaster.

I wonder if they considered
At The Mountains of Madness and
The Shadow Out of Time to not be "industrial" civilizations, or if they overlooked these works.
Dennis wrote: "Has anyone read
or
?"I've read
Tara of the Twilight and hated it. The erotica was Lin Carter's own creepy fetishes, the protagonist was the author's typically shallow and passive woman-character, and the sword-and-sorcery couldn't keep it glued together.

I've got a bunch of the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series groaning on the shelf: some Dunsany, one or two James Branch Cabell,
Golden Cities, Far, and maybe more. I need a kick to get going on the lot of them.

Thanks for mentioning this.

Does anyone have a favorite omnibus edition for Kindle, either a near-complete REH collection, or a Conan collection? There seems to be a variety available for a range of prices.
Paul wrote: "Those kothar ehooks are a bargain. Kyrik next?"They're not listed. I can't tell if Wildside publicizes future releases...
S.E. wrote: "Funny. Sounds like we may hear about the rogue next group read. Have you already read them?"I've read
Sea of Death and wasn't impressed with that one either.
S.E. wrote: "Derek wrote: "I liked this review, Derek. I've played D&D, but never read any of Gygax's books."Thanks.
By some coincidence I have a set of his Gord the Rogue novels, and all have less than ten reviews...

Just finished
The Samarkand Solution by Gary Gygax, which was a tie in to his Mythus RPG / Dangerous Journeys line created after his departure from TSR.

I'm working on
The Dragons' Return, which is Monte Cook's 'alternative' setting from
Arcana Evolved, followed by
Blood of Tarrian, from the dimly-known Bloodshadows line, and then
From Prussia With Love, from Castle Falkenstein.
Jack wrote: "I just finished a Darrell Schweitzer book and am interested to see his work in the anthology. "It looks like you already have. "The Riddle of the Horn" was in
We Are All Legends.
Dan wrote: "I had no idea F. Paul Wilson wrote heroic fantasy, thought he was pretty much strictly horror. "I think "Demonsong" is a prequel short story to the Secret History of the World series. You can grab it online:
