80482 Just finished The Cornelius Chronicles Vol III yesterday. Jerry C is an EC of sorts—a champion of satire, at least!

80482 I enjoyed the first Brak book while reading it, but then forgot most of its content shortly thereafter! I’d definitely read another one, but I have to say that among the Clonan crowd, I prefer the manic scene-shifting pace of the Thongor series, or the dopey comic-book brevity of Fox’s Kothar stuff.

80482 Howdy folks! I'm taking up the challenge and re-reading my favorite stand-alone Michael Moorcock novel, which is "Blood: A Southern Fantasy". It sure ain't sword and sorcery, but it certainly is fantastic literature! Highly recommended for anyone interested in novels that feature a cornucopia of inventive images, words, characters and plot lines.

I'll try to fit "Zhuvastou" into my summer schedule. I just finished Offutt's "The Shadow of Sorcery" today (I came across it randomly in a used bookstore down South during a business trip), and the novel is much better than I'd expected. It has a mercifully low level of Offutt's habitual, soft-porn sexism, and surprisingly high amounts of unusual plot twists, non-standard characters and metafictional humor. "Shadow" is a sequel to "Shadowspawn", but it's one of those rare sequels that outshine their predecessors. I'd say that it, too, deserves more exposure to S&S readers.

80482 Howdy, all!

It's taken a while for me to find this group, but I think I ought to join it. The first two paperbacks I remember buying as a kid with my own money were Howard's The People of the Black Circle (the reissue edited by Karl Wagner) and Burroughs' The Land That Time Forgot, and battered, old S&S books have been in my backpacks and briefcases for decades. I'll definitely wade into the read-alongs whenever time permits.

Peace!
