I'm with you on this group read fellows. I have Men of Bronze in paperback and A Gathering of Ravens in Hardcover, sitting on my shelves for way to long....

Just got my hands on the first issue and I'm happy to see new Conan prose by John C. Hocking "black starlight" serialised on 12 parts at the end of each issue.

I've been reading almost exclusively Warhammer 40k books since november '17, as I've been wanting to reach the end of the Horus Heresy series by the day the last book (approximately vol. 60+...!) is published. Currently reading "Deliverance Lost" (vol. 17) with a goal to reach vol. 25 by the end of the year. On a side note, the w40k audio dramas are really addictive and very well produced....

Clint, sorry for the belated reply. The Warhammer 40k tagline "in the grim darkness of the 41st millenium there is only war" qualifies any W40k fiction as a solid example of grimdark. If you'd like to try some of the earliest fiction, try the Deathwing anthology or the Inquisitor trilogy by Ian Watson. From the later books, I'd suggest Abnett's Xenos and Horus Rising. Also, Gav Thorpe's "angels of darkness" is a pretty good example of the moral ambiguity and eternal warfare that characterise grimdark fiction, especially in relation to the w40k body of fiction. Hope this helps!

I'm half-way through
Descent of Angels. Although it's part of the Horus Heresy series, it's written as a Sword & Planet book. No knowledge about the series' timeline needed although there is a certain irony to enjoy if you're familiar with it...

I'm trying to crawl out of the long dark void that is the
Horus Heresy to start reading either
Echoes of Valor or
Tales From the Magician's Skull #1 (released on PDF this week to backers!)...

Yes, 5e makes is great to get involved with D&D again. Haven't had fun with the game since 2nd e (15 years ago) and the new ed. offered the right amounts of nostalgia and rules functionality. Enjoy your game!

Loved Flesh & Blood. Among Verhoeven's (Robocop, Starship Troopers) greatest films. Also, great music by (Conan the Barbarian composer) Basil Polidouris:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS21M... . It's a personal genre favorite, although, not sure if it's aged well...
No relation to Donner's film, Ladyhawk, that I know of...
Charles, you probably remember another Hauer movie, Salute of the Jugger (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0094764/c...), written & directed by Blade Runner screenwriter, David Peoples. Decent, dystopian SF movie Imo...
Joseph wrote: "Good news and bad news. The good news: It looks like the Warhammer and Warhammer 40K books are starting to show up in the US Kindle store. The bad news: For $11.99 each."Indeed... Black Library's prices are quite intimidating. I've been considering many audio books but can't afford it. Every title is literally priced three times the physical copy's price...
David wrote: "Blech!
Amazon is looking for something to compete with Game of Thrones - I can think of a score of other novels/series that would be better bet than Tolkien.
1. The First Law Trilogy by Joe Aber..."Also, pretty much anything from the
Warhammer universe would make a great show...

Genre-wise, the best so far is
The Emperor's Railroad and the worst must be an issue from the current run of
Heavy Metal.

Tv seems the appropriate format for
The Silmarillion. Fingers crossed that it will look good...

Great blog James. Short, to-the-point, passionate posts. 100% of genre interest

Congrats Seth! (also, belated happy birthday!!!)
I'll purchase a physical copy when it is released.
As I've also switched to audio books lately (mostly due to non-existent reading time), I think I'm renewing my audible subscription to enjoy the first two Dyscrasia books...
Defining Sword-and-SorceryBy
Howard Andrew Jones...being a really interesting view, from a modern master of the genre, from the "Tales From the Magician's Skull " kickstarter, updates.

Great interview.
Primordia is epic, indeed...

I have a few Andrews on my shelf I'd like to read:
Andrew J Offutt (the last two volumes of
Swords Against Darkness)
Howard Andrew Jones (are middle names valid? Haven't read his
The Waters of Eternity and Pathfinder fiction)

According to a post on the
Karl Edward Wagner Fans FB group there is a documentary on

The creator of the project also asked for any KEW readers who would like to contribute [
