I hope to get ideas from people on how to make my life better. That is why I will try this group for a while to see where it is going. Most of..."
Hi Celia, I saw you post in this interesting new group and thought I'd try it out. I'm a 40-year-old physicist, which puts me on the skeptic end of a lot of health discussions. But a couple years ago, I had a health crisis that ended up convincing me to try a lot of new things and opened my mind up to a wider array of solutions than I had previously considered. I'd like to see where this goes.
I'm replying to your comment because I have very similar problems, which may or may not be related to the underlying thyroid issue I have. I've tried a lot of stuff, including a detox diet, which I wouldn't necessarily recommend. I have found some effective solutions which may be worth a try. In order of most effective first, I'd recommend:
1) epson salt baths. emphasis on the epson salt. They really work wonders.
2) trigger point massage (DIY or professional). I read this really dorky 1980s book about it, and there's probably something more up to date, but since this is a book group I'll go ahead and be specific: Pain Erasure.
3) protein supplement. I hate that this works since it's so trendy, but hey, it does for me. Specifically gelatin/collagen, not the standard whey protein. Dunno why this works exactly.
4) acupuncture definitely works, but it's temporary and I've given up on it since it's only worth about 3 days of relief and then I have to go back and don't have the time and money to keep doing that.
Sorry to gab so much, but I thought I'd mention what works for me, because that also helps introduce me to others and the kinds of things I've found that really work, because I tried many different things.
