8565 This part of our game will focus on both the LOST books (the oldest on the TBR) and the FOUND books (the newest on the TBR).

1. For this game, you will read 10 books.

2. Three (3) must be your oldest or LOST books. Use conditions 1 & 3 for this task.

3. Three (3) must be your newest books since finishing LOST 2024, that is your FOUND books. Use conditions 2 & 4 for this one.

4. For the other four (4), you may choose any of the listed conditions.

Conditions for choosing books:
1. From one author read for LOST: read another book of that author that was either published and/or added to your TBR at a later date.
2. From one author read for FOUND: read another book of that author that was either published and/or added to your TBR at an earlier date.
3. a LOST book (ie. Longest on Shelf TBR).
4. a FOUND book (ie. added to your TBR in the past 6 months & was published prior to date you completed LOST).

Happy Reading!

8565 August update:
Read: 8 + 1 in progress
Rollover: 16

I am pleased. I read more than the monthly goal and made a dent in the rollover. Nice. Now to keep that momentum going.
11 - November (6 new)
Sep 01, 2025 03:35AM

8565 This is the thread for November. Some of the instructions are posted below as well for your ease of reference.

B. Your Books
Pick your 3 - 5 top reads from September 2025 reads.

C. Like for Like (L4L)
For each of Your Books, pick one shelf from their top 3-5 shelves (aside from "to-read", "currently-reading"). (they may end up being duplicated if you are a genre reader).

You will read a book from each of these shelves (preferably those already on your TBR).

D. Your Options

For this section, you may choose to either read purely from your TBR or new books* or BOTH! There are separate tasks as per below options:

*the definition of new books here is quite liberal; it could literally be a new book you've brought home or newly published book which you've put on your TBR last year or new-to-you... whichever works for you

Each of the books you read for L4L are to be used as starting point for each of below prompts (ie. 1 book cannot be used for more than 1 prompt per option).

D.1. Your TBR
1. Date: Using one of your books, read from closest date added (could be the month and even if it was a new book you read/added in January 2025, read another book you added in January 2025)

2. Series (maybe): Using one of your books, read the next book in the series or (for stand alone book) read another book by the same author

3. Author: Using one of your books, read a book from an author with the same initials (first & last only in the same position)

4. Title: Using one of your books, read a book with an identical^ word in title
^we're not going to be super strict here, it could be exactly identical, found intact or just of similar nature (eg. monster - monstrous is acceptable)

5. Pages: Using one of your books, read a book with at least 50 pages more.

WoW! Fantastic!
Jul 27, 2025 05:34AM

8565 Just planned my August reading. I have really dropped off on this challenge during the summer; but, rather than quit as I have done in past years, I am determined to keep going!

I have 3 in progress for July, so I am not counting them in my carryover. Read only 1.

Carryover: 3 + 17 = 20.

My plan: I own 6, and 5 of those are short Kindle books. The other is over 500 pages and I have only read about 0.1 of it. I am determined to finish it next month...finally! Another 2 are short books (under 250 pages). Finally one is a library book that I have listed as currently reading but have yet to start. Since it has an August publication date, I will wait to read it next month, but it must be turned in by 8/10 as it has no further renewals. That makes 9. And, I just found one more for an even 10 to commit to reading in August.
