I've always loved horror, and while I enjoy reading about vampires and monsters and so forth, I believe the best horror stories come from the realm of the possible. Those are the ones that stay with you long, long after you close the book. For me, the story that really made my skin crawl was one I read many eons ago when I was young. It's called "Quitters, Inc." and was published in a short story collection by Stephen King. Shudder.

I just finished "The Coldest Girl in Coldtown" by the wonderful Holly Black. Complex characters and dark, snarky humor. The vampires here may not sparkle, but boy, do they shine.

I just finished "The 5th Wave" by Rick Yancey, which has tremendous buzz. It took me kind of a while to get into it, but I was glad I stayed with it. If you like Sci-fi, this is pretty dark, but a great read.

Hi, I'm Dolores. I work at the Taneytown branch. I read a lot of YA and graphic novels, but I'm trying to branch out and read more grown-up books, too. I always have a book going in my car, because I love audio books at all genres and levels.
