from the Unexpected Readathon Time / Books Out of the Blue group.
Showing 1-16 of 16

I will be reading: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins! I'm buddy reading it with one of my best friends.

- Queen of Nothing by Holly Black
I'll be focused on that, but I'm also planning to listen to the audiobook of Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo on my two hour drive to see family (and again two hours back).
Happily Holidays & Happy Reading!

If I do manage to finish Dragon Republic before the readathon is up I'll probably jump on my next ARC which is of Nocturna by Maya Motayne!

I'll update with a page count for Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid later tonight!

2. Agreeing with Dracula... it’s like..."
Poor, poor Eragon. It's always disappointing when they do such a terrible job of the first book into film that it means the rest of the series will (likely) never be made.

So I am curious: what book(s) do you love that were made into film and you hated it and why?
1. Vampire Academy (by Richelle Mead). Despite the silly name, I loved that series with all my heart and I even got both my younger sisters to read it (no easy feat). We bought tickets for the midnight showing and went together to watch it. It... was a huge disappointment. I'm still hoping that one day it'll be made into a TV series but we'll see.
2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (by J.K. Rowling). My favorite of the HP series and SO MUCH WAS CUT OUT. It's huge, I know everything can't make it, but I will forever be bitter over the fact that the Quidditch World Cup was cut. And I was never happy with the casting choice of Cedric Diggory.
3. The Golden Compass (by Phillip Pullman). I am extremely excited for the HBO series coming out soon but the movie from several years ago was just... not great.

i haven't heard that kaz and locke comparison before. besides the heist planning, and being great at conning people, i don't see a ton of similarities between the two. kaz always seemed c..."
(Seth had it coming.)
I would love for Nora Sakavic to write another series. Even if it's not about the beloved Foxes I just want more of her writing. (I will say I think "Believer" from Imagine Dragons is the perfect song for the foxes especially when they played Exy.)

-Gentleman Bastards by Scott Lynch
-Shade of Magic by VE Schwab
-The Shadow Game by Amanda Foody
-All for the Game by Nora Sakavic
-Warcross by M..."
I own the Lies of Locke Lamora (I was told the character is like an adult Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows which immediately made me interested) but I haven't really started it yet.
Also I absolutely LOVE All For the Game!! Kevin Day has my heart but really I adored all the little monsters.

1. Aurora Rising by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
2. Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

That said:
1) Protector of the Small by Tamora Pierce
2) Huxtable Quintet by Mary Balogh
3) ASOIAF by GRRM"
My dad feels your bitterness. Anytime someone so much as mentions ASOIAF to him he just sighs and gets frustrated. (I've seen the show but haven't read the books yet. Not sure if I want to until I'm certain GRRM is actually going to finish them.)

I thought this might be a fun little way to get to know each other a little more (and an opportunity to check out new books!). I'm curious about what your favorite book series is! Or, if it's too hard to narrow down to just one (I'll never be able to pick just one myself) then your Top Five favorite series. The series that you can read again and again and never tire of; the ones you recommend to everyone you know because the characters and world and story is just too good to keep to yourself.
No standalones on this one please! I might end up eventually making a separate thread for favorite standalone novels but this one is any series with two or more books in it.
(in no particular order for me)
1. Shades of Magic trilogy by V. E. Schwab
2. Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling
3. Captive Prince trilogy by C. S. Pacat
(wow I seem to have a love for authors with their first and middle initial??)
4. Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstong
5. Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo

That's fantastic though!! 329 pages & finishing a short book is nothing to feel disappointed by - it's really impressive to me. (:

I didn't get as much reading done as I'd hoped this weekend but one of my friends visited so we were hanging out most of it BUT! I managed to get some in the last couple days.
I read 59 pages in the Young Elites.
After work today I picked up "Daisy Jones & the Six" and I'm only 20 pages in but I'm already in love!!

- The Young Elites by Marie Lu (I read this title a few years ago but never finished the trilogy but I am aching for a fantasy series that stars an antihero or antiheroine so I'm dipping back into this series - also I really loved the character of Raffaele. OH! And blue is my favorite color so that's perfect!)
- Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
(and as soon as March 5th hits I will be diving into Daisy Jones & the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid)
But!! If anyone has some fantasy or YA books that are narrated by an antihero or antiheroine I would love any recommendations! Especially if there is LGBT+ representation in it too.

I'm a huge Harry Potter nerd and constantly ask new people what their House is (I always get Slytherin on any of the tests and although they are my favorite house I tend to think of myself more of a Hufflepuff)! It was actually my dad who got me into loving books as he's an avid reader himself.
If a book deals with magic and LGBT+ characters I will read it. But I also happen to love reading anything involving mythology, horror, fantasy, YA, and a bit of mystery.
Also anything V.E. Schwab puts out I will read.
I tend to ramble and am kind of awkward but I'm excited to meet everyone and discuss all sorts of books.
