50x66 I've also read this book, and it is a really good one. I like how you compared it to the Outsiders :) This is a great book, and I recommend it too.

50x66 This book sounds really interesting! I might read this book, since it has won many awards. Also, it seems interesting to me that someone would betray their race to have a fresh start.
The Lost Boy (1 new)

50x66 "'You were eight years old when your mother...' -he puts on his glasses as he began to read a paper from the file-'... held your arm, your right arm...,' he nodded again, but at me, '... over a gas stove. Is that correct?" I am currently reading a book called The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer. So far, I've been enjoying reading this book. I like how the main character, David, is such a brave boy and never gives up on his dreams. Another book by Pelzer is A Child Called "It". What author John Bradshaw had to say about this book was, "The Lost Boy stands shining as the premier book on the unique love and dedication that social services and foster families provide for our children in peril. Dave Pelzer is certainly a living testament of resilience, personal responsibility and the triumph of the human spirit." I would recommend this book to people 13 years and older some kids might not know what foster care is, which is what this book is mostly about.
Boot Camp (1 new)

50x66 "'Another winter here and I'm dead anyway.'" Before my current book, I had read a book called Boot Camp by Todd Strasser. I really enjoyed reading this book because of it's details on the main character's feelings; I was able to feel what the main character felt and thought. This book can be compared to the book Holes. Similar to Boot Camp, Holes is also about a camp where the main character is sent to to do hard labor and is also written to show the character's feelings and thoughts. Some other books written by Strasser are Give a Boy a Gun and Can't Get there from Here. I would recommend this book to people from the ages 12 and over because younger children might not understand the events that occur and might get confused during the twists throughout the story.

50x66 I am currently reading a book called The Darkest Evening by William Durbin, which I believe would be a great book for people who like Historical Fiction because it has many shocking events that will surprise you, and maybe even make you jump off your seat. I would compare this book to the book called The Boy in the Stripped Pijamas because even with fictional characters, they can still express and show what the time period was like at the moment. Other books by Durbin are The Winter War and Wintering. I would recommend this book to people from the ages 12 and older because younger children might not understand the plot or what is going on in the story. What would YOU do if you lived in a country where everyone was getting innocently arrested, and never seen again? Would you hide? Would you try to escape?

50x66 This book does sound very interesting and like Matthew, I also think this describes many students all over the world. I think that everyone deserves a chance to accomplish their goals.

50x66 "What exactly was the difference? he wondered to himself. And who decided which people wore the stripped pajamas and which people wore the uniforms?" Not very long ago I read a book called The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas by John Boyne, which is about how a child of a Nazi becomes friend with the Child of a Jew and what their experiences are like. In my personal opinion, this book is great because even though the book uses fictional characters, it still demonstrates and explains what the Nazi period and the Holocaust was like. I would recommend this age to people from the ages 12 older because most children wouldn't know what the Holocaust was until that age. I would compare this book to the book called Night by Elie Wiesel because both books illustrate what the Holocaust was like. If you were to be alive during the Holocaust, would you be friends with someone you're not supposed to?

50x66 I just read a book called Pictures of Hollis Woods by Patricia Reilly Giff. I honestly believe that the book is great because it has a lot of suspense. The book won a Newbery Honor award. "Hollis Woods really is a mountain of trouble," said Ms. Centanni. Hollis Woods said, "I opened my mouth to say: How about W for wish, or W for want, or W for 'wouldn't it be loverly,' like the song the music teacher had taught us." Other books by Giff are Lily's Crossing and Nory Ryan's Story. I would recommend this book to people twelve years and older because younger people might get confused by all the transitions. I would compare this book to the book The Boy in the Stripped Pijamas because first, the main characters are sad a lonely, but at the end they receieve happiness. How would you feel if you wre Hollis, moving around with different families and being lonely?

50x66 It sounds similar to a book called Among the Hidden. They are both similar because the main characters have to hide. You should check it out.

50x66 It really would feel astonished too if I went from a world to another

50x66 Currently, I am reading a book called Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. I think this is a great book because it has a lot of suspense and unexpected events. This book is about a boy named Luke who lives in a city where parents can not have more than two children. Unfortunatley, since Luke was a third child, he has to spend all of his life hiding from everyone. This book can be compared to the book called The Boy in the Stripped Pyjamas because both Luke and the Jew feel miserable, but then meet someone that changes their perspective of life. I would recommend this book to people from ages ten and up because there are not that many difficult words. What Kirkus, an American book review magazine, had to say about this was, "A chilling and intelligent novel." Lastly, other books by this author are Shadow Children and Running out of Time.

50x66 Do you like books with fantasy? Well, then The Tale of Despereaux is the book for you. I think that this is a good book because it has many twists and is about bravery and friendship. This book relates to the book called The Supernaturalist because it also has a lot of fantasy. Also, this book won the 2004 Newbery medal. If you were Despereaux how would you feel, being the only mouse who was brave and not a coward?

50x66 I just finished reading a book called Holes and in my opinion, it is a very good book because it is very exciting and shocking. Also, Holes won an award for Most Distinguished Contribution to American Literature for Children. In addition, I would recommend this book for all ages. Other boos by Louis Sachar are Small Steps and Dogs Don't Tell Jokes. Finally, I would compare this book to A Series of Unfortunate Events because both books' themes are about perseverance.
