9292 I'd say having full creative control and power over the distribution is a good reason.

9292 Anyone can go to indiebookshelf.com and click on the submissions link for instructions on how to get your book on indie bookshelf. Currently I am undergoing a remodel of the site, and it has taken longer than expected to get some of the newer books up there, but it is coming along. It's easy to submit, just takes a while to actually go up on the site.

9292 Of course you can advertise the site anywhere you like! Feel free to use the logo from the site. Or email me info@indiebookshelf.com and I will send you a jpg or a link to one to use.

9292 There are several indie publishers out there, whatever it takes to get the word out. We like to promote these types of companies, and I will check out their site. Thanks for the info!

9292 You do what you gotta do.

If it is worth it to you, you make it happen. That's what Indie BookShelf the website is about. Getting the indie media out to the public in one concentrated place. This way people will know, they can go there and get indie books, music, movies, mags, etc.

A lot of my clients, and collegues network like crazy, and get a lot of hits on their books. Indie Publishing is not for the lazy.

9292 Steven- As far as Kerouac goes, if they found on the road in an old junk drawer today, and it was in that format, it would sell more because of the original format.

Look at Plath- Ariel the restored edition has her original manuscript with facsimiles of the actual original poems with her editing process out there in front of you.

It is a lot more interesting because of that.

People will want more interesting. Traditional publishing is not more interesting. If you keep in your head that idea, it will always be YOUR idea.

Divorce it. Leave that crap behind. It is possible to sell independently published media. You just have to have the staying power to push your own work.

9292 The idea that I have total control over what goes in, how it looks, and how much I get paid for it? How could I not?

9292 Hi Darren,

The group is for the promotion of indie authors/artists, just like the website: visit www.indiebookshelf.com for details.

Thanks for joining the group and supporting indie authors/artists!
