I loved the book, I had watched the film and enjoyed it, but the book really captured the feelings of being a teenager and the first time of finding people where you belong. At first the epistolary form vaguely irritated me, I wasn't sure of the purpose in first person narration. However, as the novel progressed it allowed me to relate more to Charlie as it felt as if he could be speaking to me. I love the very simple style, that still managed to create a really distinct voice without excess. Basically, a beautiful coming of age story. Hope the book club night goes well!
