When I road trip it, I have a habit of noticing town names and cataloging them in my brain for future literary use. Most of the time, so far, I find no real use for these names. But when I saw Butter (it might have actually been Butter Creek, PA or Butter Run, VA), I knew that it was the name of my town in "Benevolent" (which was originally Jones).

Ultimately, I like the homey feel of the name Butter, and the nostalgia associated with it. It says to me Hometown, USA. Plus, I love butter; I believe in natural things, not phoney products, which probably plays out subconsciously in my naming the town Butter.

I wish that the movie "Butter" hadn't come out this past year, because they are doing something totally different (like dark and even sexy) with the concept of butter. But that's what happens when it takes years to write and produce a thing.
