98759 Circle: I like the User Interface of Goodreads. However, I get frustrated with navigation sometimes. All in all, It feels very personal to me when I use it, which is good.

Square: Goodreads is my favorite community because the feedback I receive is helpful. I love all of my friends.

Shining: I have yet to meet any shining stars other than erotic authors and I have not read an erotic book yet. Erotic authors connect with me in the most genuine ways.

98759 Currently there is a trend in circular graphics and squared corner edges. This discussion hopes to be one with a long thread. What are your favorite communities and why? Do you like the layout? How does the engagement suit your needs? What makes a community shine?

98759 I like it. Variety and creativity are definitely great causes for the Information Age because they could have a large economic effect on content sales. More people will buy more stuff if we all like variety and creativity.

98759 The online community is the aggregate of your online contacts, causes, concerns, friends, and followers. What is your cause. Mine is common sense or proper Netiquette.

98759 Effective communication is enabled with the core rules of netiquette. Advanced communication is enabled when we make up our own netiquette rules. What are your netiquette rules?

98759 I agree. My netiquette rules are not hard and fast. However, I may note that most people would agree that all caps in a poem is artistic. Vocal variety is a technique used in public speaking.

98759 I rewrote the core rules so that they can apply to all online interaction. It's good netiquette to be yourself online is number 4. What do you think? http://www.networketiquette.net

98759 i feel more connected to people who do not use caps at all. the communication feels more personal. i am not sure if that is good netiquette or bad because apple sure did make the lower case i more popular : )

98759 I was being a little bit of a keyboard coward by not writing to reply same day. There is a good case for same day replies to professional email. It depends on how digital you are.

98759 There is a 24 hour rule for replying to phone messages. Faster is better. However, with email, it is always better to wait a minute. Think about a response, spell check, and proofread. I think it is good netiquette to wait at least 15 minutes. What do you think? http://www.NetworkEtiquette.net

98759 You guys are definitely right (I accidentally deleted a good comment). My, no all caps rule is the most popular rule on my website. Recently, I have been trying to figure out nicer ways to explain why following what everyone thinks is appropriate because of backlash I have received. However, there is no way to sugar coat it. All caps are yelling at people. Even if it is not your intent, that is how it is perceived. The recipient may or may not tell, but they probably think it.

98759 It's good netiquette to refrain from using all caps. They jump off the screen at you, yell. http://www.NetworkEtiquette.net

98759 There is no doubt that the internet makes services available to a whole new class of people, Newbies. However, it takes netiquette to use it effectively. Netiquette improves the quality of life of users with effective, communication and internet navigation. http://www.NetworkEtiquette.net
