Thanks for your comment, Cindy. I will recommend to you one of our reading's book club 2009 Collapse How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed by Jared Diamond. This book will give you a new glance to understand how societies have made or make decisions with a lot of examples in the world.
The results of his survey are perhaps why Diamond sees "signs of hope" and arrives at a position of "cautious optimism" for all our futures".
As a reviewer, I am ready to accept green books too.

The question is "Why do you like READING ? The Green group is a group where we share our knowledge, where we learn in different Environment fields by reading books or discussing Environmental issues from articles, with facts.
If you'd agree to read one book, I'll recommend to you Earth in Mind: On Education, Environment, and the Human Prospect
Here's its summary:
In Earth in Mind, Orr focuses not on problems in education, but on the problem of education. Much of what has gone wrong with the world, he argues, is the result of inadequate and misdirected education that alienates us from life in the name of human domination; causes students to worry about how to make a living before they know who they are; overemphasizes success and careers; separates feeling from intellect and the practical from the theoretical and deadens the sense of wonder for the created world. The crisis we face, Orr explains, is one of mind, perception, and values. It is, first and foremost, an educational challenge.
2010 is the Year of Biodivesity. I propose to you to reflect on this sentence from The Unesco .
" It is only when humans realize the centrality of Biodiversity to their lives that they will start to conserve and sustainably and equitably use it. "
And READING books is one of the most relevant way to learn with famous authors.
Dear Michelle,
Let me repeat, I am a book reviewer. That means, I read the books that are offered to me for review. I neither get paid nor pay for the books. I am a physicist, a metallurgist, a quality management expert from an industry deeply involved in nuclear power, which, I believe is quite green, esp. from global warming perspective and reduction of carbon emissions. I also believe in solar, wind power, wave power, geo thermal and other clean sources of energy.
I keep abreast of what is going on in this field by reading newspapers, Scientific American and other publications.
Best wishes.

Thanks. Is this the group or is there another link for joining? I made a power point presentation a couple of years ago to school teachers (not science teachers, teachers of arts, commerce, music etc.) and they appreciated it for its simplicity. I am ready to share that too.
