Poll

It's about time to identify obscure Sword & Sorcery books... one's that are worth hunting down in bookstores and frantic online searches. This may lead to a groupread in the future. Years ago we did this a bunch of us read Cambell's Ryre stories. This is not the time/pace to pimp new books. Please write-in some options and/or vote

Richard, great adds! I added them to the poll! Also good call on Oron by another member...Scott Oden I think.

message 3: by Cindy (new)

Cindy Tomamichel Dennis Schmidt Wayfarer is good. Not sorcery, but a lot of sword fighting in a very scifi japanese setting.

message 4: by Jason (new)

Jason Waltz Apologies, seems I cannot figure how to properly add, edit, or delete poll write-ins. If someone knows the ins and outs, please remove the standalone 'Amra Thetys' write-in and instead somehow make the write-in link 'https://www.goodreads.com/series/8511...' an actual candidate folks can know what they're voting for. It is a link to the Michael McClung Amra Thetys series, staring the very same named character in some rather delightful escapades and shenanigans filled with sharp objects, tongues, and exclamations!

Not terribly old, but definitely neglected. Please read and share in the joy!

@Cindy, I added Way-farer

@Jason, no worries, I cleaned up your Michael McClung nomination.

To both, I had not heard of these. Thanks for sharing,

To all, I'll continue to add the GR link and book covers. Please keep checking the votes since the list changes!

Richard It's been years since I've read these AND it's unfinished. Nothing says frustration like reading an old series without an ending.
Morigu The Desecration (Morigu, #1) by Mark C. Perry
Morigu: The Desecration
Morigu The Dead (Morigu, #2) by Mark C. Perry
Morigu: The Dead
Both are fairly hard to find with a steep price tag.

I was going to make another suggestion but then I saw this and thought I'd vote for these books (since I have some of them)!

Greg, would be great to have you join in. Feel welcome to add those other names. If we have an Obscure them...it may end being "just read one from this poll listing." So you could read Gygax and someone else may read the item you suggest :)

Nik Hawkins What about The Dark Tales by Jessica Amanda Salmonson? Weird and high fantasy. I think fewer than 1,000 were printed. I have a copy I've been meaning to crack open for a long while.

Nice. I turned your write-in option to include the book cover.

message 19: by Nik (new)

Nik Hawkins Thanks. If anything, I hope I'm at least creating awareness that the book is out there. There are several on this list I haven't heard of before, as well.

Richard This is hands down my favorite S&S books. Gene wrote these in the '70's. It's surprising how few people have heard of these books.
The Lerios Mecca (Saga of Dirshan the God-killer, #1) by Gene Lancour
The Lerios Mecca
The War Machines of Kalinth (Saga of Dirshan the God-killer, #2) by Gene Lancour

The Man-Eaters of Cascalon (Saga of Dirshan the God-killer, #4) by Gene Lancour
The Man-Eaters of Cascalon
Although, revised versions are available currently on Amazon.com.

Discussion Link =https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

I lengthened the availability of this poll since many may use it as a guide. Time to try these out and discuss them. S&S aficionados need to learn and share about these.
