Wow that’s a lot! I struggled to even come up with 3, horror is really not my genre.
I know I said you could recommend as many as you want but would it be ok if you narrowed it down to 4 or 5? If some are mg, ya and adult it’d be cool if you chose a mix! I only recognise 2 of the titles so I don’t know what demographics they belong to lol

Would you like me to add the sandman edition you linked or the comic version: Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes & Nocturnes?

@Audrey last year’s list was great, wasn’t it! I feel like this year’s will be great again, you guys never disappoint.
@Dea thanks, I’ve added your books to the poll above.

I’ve always wanted to read the Graveyard book but never got round to it. Now I’ve learnt there’s a graphic novel adaptation I might read that instead!
Also I added Welcome to Lovecraft using its proper full title which is Locke & Key, Vol. 1: Welcome to Lovecraft. I really hope people don’t get confused by that because basically goodreads has this new ridiculous stance where they’re changing comic titles to just the subtitles which is totally incorrect and makes it hard for people to find what they’re looking for. The comic community on goodreads (including myself) has been fighting with them over this for more than a month now!

Personally, I would like the one I added but, people might have trouble getting it because it's an Audible exclusive. You be the judge.

I just added the one you linked but I’ll make a note below the list that people can read any edition of what they want. So even for Satrina’s suggestion of The Graveyard Book, Volume 1 people can read the book version instead if they want.
It’s actually really nice to have variety like this! It gives people a chance to try something they’ve never tried before.

The Glass Children (MG)
These Fleeting Shadows (YA)
The Ghost of Spruce Point (MG)
The Smashed Man of Dread End (MG)
This Appearing House (MG)

What Abigail Did That Summer (recent)
The Wild Hunt of Hagworthy (retro)
The Satanic Mill (retro)
The Amazing Mr Blunden (both: still in print!)
The Bone Collector's Son (retro)
EDIT: I don't live in an English-speaking country, and so I don't know if any of these are readily available in the local library systems... I don't want to make life harder for people! I buy most of mine secondhand because it's just easier for me...

The Graveyard Book is one of my favorite books and just now bought the graphic novel adaptations so I'm reading them next month with my son.
And I'm so on board about the changing of titles because it makes it harder, sometimes it so confusing to find really what you're looking for.

The Graveyard Book IS awesome! :D Seconding that recommendation!

Yay! I'm trying to build a good TBR list of MG books so, even if we don't get to read this books for the October readathon we'll get to them eventually, thanks!

It’s so frustrating how the ridiculous decision from goodreads to change titles like this is making it hard for people to read. It makes it so hard for me to recommend comics to non-comic readers too!
If you feel up to it, I and the rest of the comic community on goodreads would really appreciate if you could send a message here: https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta... stating how the title changes have effected you. This really is a movement within the comic community right now so we’re asking anyone who is effected it to make your voice heard in support of our cause!

It’s totally ok if some of the books aren’t available for everyone because at least it’ll get on people’s radar and maybe they find another book by the author or a similar book etc and then they’re reading something they wouldn’t normally have read which is the whole point of any of our group events!
I just realised earlier today that one of my recommendations Into the Shadows which I read when I was young but never finished the series is only available in print. I’m going to have to try and find it at a library because I really want to reread it and finish the series now!

I would like to recommend:

The Owl Service
(And, actually, ANY of the Alan Garner would qualify here)
I will also be (finally) reading A Newbery Halloween: A Dozen Scary Stories by Newbery Award-Winning Authors, which I got at completely the wrong time of year. ;) Not holding out a lot of hope: absolutely HATED the Christmas one. XD
Oh right, another creepy classic: Something Wicked This Way Comes (his The Halloween Tree is on my TR list..)

I read Something Wicked This Way Comes last year and I really liked it and I read The Halloween Tree a looong time ago and liked it but I've been meaning to read it again, this time with my son.

Thirteen treasures what a throwback! I loved that series when I was in high school! I tried to read one of the other books written by the author last year I think but I ended up dropping it. I just don’t have the same reading appetite as I used to when I was younger!
Anyway I’ll add these above!

@Capn @Audrey I’ll add your extra recs above.
I think that’s everyone, hopefully I haven’t missed anyone out because I’m compiling the list now.
