I second the Inheritance Games.

Pearl I don't know if this would count, I just watched the show on Netflix, and am DYING to read the books. Lockwood & Co. I believe the first book can be read as a stand-alone and doesn't end on any cliff-hangers. :)

Georgann to add to the possibles: The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane
@patonusgrnaer12 - I LOVED the Lockwood series!

It absolutely would count! I love Lockwood and Co!! It was actually the group’s first series readathon so I have fond memories of reading it with others on the group.

And omg was the show good then? Because the first teaser I saw looked really meh but then the trailer looked a bit better. I haven’t watched it yet. Lockwood is not hot enough though😂 I’m sorry but I gotta say it! And I like the thin types too and I’m still saying that. It’s just because the American editions had the characters illustrated on the covers so now I can’t imagine the main three characters any other way and I also think Lucy looks too different. I still want to watch it but I’m afraid watching it will ruin my love for the series

Sophie Crane I've Chosen Five on a Treasure Island Because it's the O.G. Children's Mystery Novel.

It really is! I remember when I was 11 I made it my mission to read all the famous five books. I never got all the way through but I made it pretty far. The most I’ve ever read any series!

It's a pretty okay series. The first episodes are ridiculously intriguing if you have never been introduced to Stroud's world. The drama tied with regard to romance is very vague and I presume that it is faithful to the books. I can understand that the characters may not be the same as those described in the books, but they're really not that bad :) The chemistry between the trio is also really good. I'd give the show an 7.5 or 8/10. I would recommend it. However since I have never read the books yet, I cannot judge Locky's looks 🤪🔥. Also I think Lucy in the show is a bit of stubborn and self-centered but idk if she is like that in the books.

PS: I ship locklyle! 😊🤣

That's actually an accurate description to Lucy in the books too. That's her character flaw, she's very independent which is great but it makes her stubborn and self-centred. She only really resolves that by the end of the 5 book series.

SHIP LOCKLYLE YES!! SHIP IT ALWAYS!! I don't usually go for the whole shipping thing but their relationship in the books is great and we do not get enough of the romance. It's only hinted at throughout so I'm hoping the show gives a bit more of that.
I definitely feel like I need to watch it after you've rated it so high!

You should try. Ive only heard of people hating a movie or show because it wasnt like the book(s). Not the movie or show making them not like the books anymore.
I personally view each as its own thing and books and shows inspired by the book, I guess Im one of the few who doesnt judge movies or shows based off books harshly and as a result I end liking both while others hate the movie. Artemis Fowl looking at you.

It’s so early in the morning and I’m half asleep so I’m confused as to whether you’re saying you like the Artemis Fowl movie or not. I never watched that one but I laugh at it from a distance.

I probably will watch Lockwood and co, maybe in my free week in 2 weeks time. It’s been funny seeing all the people who haven’t heard of the books call it a discount ghostbusters for tweens. To be fair it sort of is but the books have a more horror vibe than the trailer seems to give off, making the show seem like a cheap ghostbusters rip off to people who don’t know the books.
