Michael I voted for Mainstream as I've got Puttering About In A Small Land waiting to be read. I won't mind reading any other Philip K. Dick work, though.

The only non-PKD books I'd be likely to read would be a Tim Powers or a K. W. Jeter, but don't let that sway anybody's vote ;-)

message 2: by Themistocles (new)

Themistocles I always find it peculiarly refreshing when I visit one of the less-known works... So, the earliest the better, since you don't get to discuss these much.

I voted for 70s PKD books, i have been reading him by publishing years so i have read mostly 50s and 60s books.

I will be involved in the group read if there is PKD book. I have no interest in other authors for group reads. I can read Tim Powers,Letheam and co on their own time.

The next PKD book I'll be reading is Dr. Bloodmoney so I voted for the sixties era.

message 5: by Barry (new)

Barry I'm new to PKD still; I've only read the short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale," and then The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch, so for me, another novel of that era is just what I'm pining for at this point. Mayhaps Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said?

a 60s era PKD book won. We only had 31 voters, so I think we need to keep the list of books to vote on to around 5, otherwise we may easily get a big tie for all the choices.

I think we'll just let the first 5 people to reply hear nominate a book from the list below and then we'll have a group vote to pick a winner. You can pick anything as long as think it would make a good discussion book (although they all probably do)

Themistocles Counter clock world? Some interesting topics there, and it's a bit of an awkward book I feel...

Counter-Clock World
The Simulacra
Now Wait for Last Year
Dr. Bloodmoney, or How We Got Along After the Bomb

need 1 more nomination, unless a few jump in first to say just leave it at those 4.

message 13: by Sérgio (new)

Sérgio I'm in the mood for a lesser known PKD book too. I'll go with The Game-Players of Titan.

Game-Players of Titan... good choice. It can qualify as lesser known, but that title also appears to be somewhat of a cult favorite with Dick fans
