message 1: by Sylvia (new)

Sylvia Tedesco Two hours includes a leisurely reading of morning newspapers and magazines. My reading of books tends to be in large bursts of time at intervals when I go for hours and can't put a book down or when I'm trying to catch up with the book group meeting.

message 2: by Gail (new)

Gail Of course it depends on the day of the week and if it's vacation time. As a teacher, I read a lot anyway, but during the summer...heaven!

message 3: by Meg (new)

Meg I am saying an hour on a work day, vacations and weekends are totally different. And, I am also talking about leisure reading not work related things.

message 4: by Karol (new)

Karol It's hard to gauge how much time I spend reading. Typically, I've got 3 books I'm working on at any given time - one by my chair in the living room for morning reading, one at my nightstand for evening, and one that I carry with me in the car so I have something for all those times I find myself waiting - picking up my child from school, waiting for an appointment, etc. I tend to read whenever I can - which may be as little as a half hour a day, or as much as 3 hours.

message 5: by Terri (new)

Terri I most reading an hour or two hours for my time out as I can . Mostly at nights before bedtime.

message 6: by Leshawn (new)

Leshawn I read whenever I have a free minute. Working 12 hours in a lab, those minutes add up. Including morning and before bedtime reading that is an average of 2 or more hours per day. More when I'm off or on vacation.

message 7: by Wendy (new)

Wendy I answered 2 hrs. but, that is during the week. Usually on the weekend I can get more hours in. I do the reward system.. get my weekend work done early...get to read.

message 8: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn Meredith I read a lot...and I write a lot.

Marilyn Meredith, author of Kindred Spirits, a Deputy Tempe Crabtree mystery from http://www.mundaniapress.com

message 9: by LJ (new)

LJ Because I'm currently unemployed, my reading time now averages more than 5 hours per day but during "normal" times, I read 3-5 hours a day. I am blessed to be a fast reader with very good comprehension and retention...and I watch very little television.

message 10: by Lori (new)

Lori Anderson I have a five year old, volunteer at his school, and run my own business, so I only have two hours a day at best. Fortunately, I read fast. And there are days when I say screw it and spend the day in bed just so I can read!

message 11: by Lesa (new)

Lesa Trapp I read all day and half the night. I read so much that I buy cheater glass all the time. It makes the type bigger. ahhaha

message 12: by SassyMama (new)

SassyMama It all depends...even though I don't find a lot of time for my own personal reading I do read to my twins several times throughout the day...so it would depend on how many books they bring me at one time...so I'd say anywhere between 2 - 3 hours a day...and if I'm lucky one of those hours might be for me...LOL...Happy Reading :-)

message 13: by Gavin (new)

Gavin It's actually between two and three hours most days. I also get to read aloud to elementary students a couple of times a week!

message 14: by Skip (new)

Skip Cooper I read a lot because of my job, so I would say that I read more than 5 hrs per day. Reading for entertainment, however, is just about 1 to 2 hours depending on the time available. Sometimes my reading interferes with my writing...but, I'm sort of reading then also.

message 15: by Debbie (new)

Debbie I try to read a little in the morning in bed with that first cup of coffee and usually read for a little before bedtime. But only averages about an hour a day.

message 16: by Becca (new)

Becca Mine varies upon the day and my vote included my work reading. I'm a technical writer so I read a lot every day that has nothing to do with my reading for pleasure. If I were to vote for my pleasure reading only, I would still vote for 2 hours on a typical day and more than 5 hours for a weekend day, holiday, or vacation day.

message 17: by *Nan* (new)

*Nan* Most nights I am lucky because I can get in about 2 hours but on weekends I can read more.

message 18: by Robyn (new)

Robyn I answered less than an hour but now realise that actually I read all day. I was thinking of reading for pleasure... and that is Mon - Fri but I do manage to read several hours on a weekend, for pleasure.

message 19: by Severine (new)

Severine Carriere Normally, I read one hour a day, but I'm trying to write a thesis, so I can read most of the day, week-end included.

message 20: by Anita (new)

Anita Nother Book I answered less than one hour a day. And that's if I'm lucky. :( I need to read more. I always bemoan the fact that I don't have enough time to read, but, guess what, I have plenty of time to watch American Idol and the Office and Law & Order. Sure, I watch these shows and others with my fiance, usually over dinner, and consider them a "bonding experience" ;) but I just felt sad when I realized I spend more time watching TV/movies or surfing Facebook or other random websites than reading, which I love a lot more than any of those other activities.

message 21: by LJ (new)

LJ I'm am currently unemployed so I average about 6-8 hours per day, more on the weekend.
