I vote Nathaniel then it can be shortened to Nathan or Nate.

For a totally different suggestion how about Mitchell that can be shortened to Mitch ?

I added a few new names that I came up with... Aidan, Nicolai, Raphael, and Julian.

Rafe is short for Raphael, so you can't use that one. Nicholai is cool.

Good point! I didn't think about how Rafe was a nickname for Raphael! Oops!

I love the name Dante. I've named one of my characters that.

I picked Ryder (Rafe and Ryder... but dunno) It would help to know more about the book's premise. Where and when it took place, the ethnicity of the character's parents, if they are paranormal or victims of the paranormal etc. But Ryder is my gut choice! I like most of these names though!

I am ashamed to admit that I have not read it yet. *Blushes* From reading the descriptions of the books, I'll stick with Ryder ;)

Read through some ancient history books. Lot's of the names used in Lord fo the Rings are the names of German Vandal chieftans and Norse. Boromir for istance. Gelamir was one of last Vandal kings in North Africa. In the Dune series names are from history books. Feyadakin in Dune is Arabic as is Muad Dib. That's what other authors have done to get names. I could think of some great ancient Celtic, German,names. You could use the Biblical ones every one is sugesting. Go pagan.

I would say Raiden...it seems a better fit to his brother and might fit with the story better...

Since his brothers name is Rafe. A wrather rakish name. I would suggest something in the same vien. Vayden, Shane,
