Emily - Before you spend money on a Kindle, try checking out an Overdrive book and reading it in the web-based reader. You can try out browsing the Overdrive catalog (some definite gaps, but filling in constantly) and checking out an e-book, turning pages, returning it early, etc., to see how you like the process, before you have the pressure of a gadget.
I prefer an e-reader for reading fiction, hands-down (main reasons: being able to increase font size and being able to carry 2-3 huge books in my coat pocket). I still prefer a paper book for complex non-fiction (the Kindle doesn't quite handle navigating to and from endnotes and indexes.)

I don't consider audio files to be e-reading. But I guess it is, because books on CDs are essentially the same thing. I've done it occasionally when the book I wanted was not readily available, but I try to read printed material if possible.

Thanks!!

Leigh Ann - it does take a lot of steps to get there from the homepage, so I like to just bookmark overdrive.dclibrary.org. It will take you directly where you want to go.
Anyone else?
