*the hobbit- which shall be released later on this year, with the Dragon Smaug

great idea and a spectacular film, one of my all-time favorites. Some say that the special effects are a bit 'out of date' but honestly, when a storyline is that amazing it does not matter.

recently I saw a good animation http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_H..., same title
Dragon Hunters is a cartoon series created by Arthur Qwak and produced by the French company Futurikon. It follows the adventures of two hunters for hire through a medieval world of floating land masses that is terrorized by a widely varying menace of monsters known collectively as dragons. A 3-D feature film and a videogame based on the film have also been released. Its original French title is Chasseurs de Dragons.

What was cool in this animation is the originality (cool dragons) and the floating world (the world is in pieces, floating pieces)
:)

I think I have. Is it animation, similar to The Last Unicorn?

Yes! That is it. I want to see it but can't find it anywhere!

Yup, I have seen that movie several times, I watched it when I was a kid. It is pretty cool if you don't mind the old school animation. It was made in 1982 and you can buy it on Amazon. Here is the link:

Definately worth watching for dragon fans!
Thanks! I have been just looking to rent it or stream it. But I am thinking I might have to buy it.

Dragonslayer
I liked it. I didn't think I would, but I did. The dragon has no dialogue, is obviously the villain, and yet I loved this portrayal. Also, I thought the plot was pretty good.
I second Flight of Dragons, btw. Very good film.

And, of course, this year's "Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug." Haven't seen it yet, but plan to.
In "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" one of the children turns into a dragon for a while.
And "Earthsea" has some dragons in it.

I'd like to see The Desolation of Smaug but the first Hobbit was not good so I am thinking of waiting until it comes to DVD. I only watched The Hobbit to see the dragon but they kept teasing us with him and hardly showed Smaug at all in the first movie.

I am hoping that Smaug is a lot more visible in the second movie!
