I'm currently reading Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I'm just over half way through it so far and really enjoying it. I'd say if you've read her other series, The Mortal Insturments, and liked it I'd definitely recommend this book to you.

Clockwork Angel (The Infernal Devices, #1) by Cassandra Clare

Carolyn F. I'm reading A Texan's Luck (Wife Lottery, #3) by Jodi Thomas , sweet books.

message 4: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly_l) I have a busy September lined up for books to read, but before that starts, I am finishing up Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson and I'd like to squeeze in Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill before Saturday (the 1st and when all my other reads start). I can't offer up any opinions just yet, but I'll keep ya'll informed.

Kelly (kelly_l) Kate? I haven't read the Halo series yet, but my problem with YA novels is the teen angst thats in a lot of them. I just tried to read one...Nevermoreand for me, it was awful. Typical cheerleader, teen angst, mysterious boy vs. mean current boyfriend...it was just terrible for me. Is the Halo series different from that? That's the make it or break it for me. What do you think?

Is it written like a fairytale at all?

message 9: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (kelly_l) Thanks for the input Kate. :) I'm glad to hear what you said. I'll get around to the series soon although it's not a rush for me. :)

I'm still pushing through Before I Go To Sleep by S.J. Watson which I am determined to finish in the next day or so since I have so many books on my plate for September.

A lot of farytales I've read aren't all that happy. And the original ones weren't either. They're quite dark, but I like them.

Kelly (kelly_l) I dunno if I'm going to be able to get in The Forgotten Garden before the end of the month or not. I'm really trying but I've got other obligations. My time got away from me this month.

Heather? The second book in that series, Clockwork Prince...is hands down one of my favorite books of all time. It's so much better than Angel. I was not that big a fan of Angel but Prince? Oh my gosh...loved it!

I'm reading The Map of Lost Memories A Novel by Kim Fay which is my partner read book. So far its kind of interesting, but you'll have to read our thread to find out more. ::mysterious look::

Finally picked The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton back up. Haven't read since the semester started.

The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

message 42: by Betty T (new)

Betty T (betty_t) Finally I finished reading this book. I think the best part of the book is the comments the author made at the end of her book. She talked about "The Help" her family had. To me,it sounded as if she was redeeming herself some kind of way by writing this book. Yes it's fiction, but even in fiction, I find it hard to believe that in Mississippi in the '60s a white woman was able to secures job for a black domestic worker writing a newspaper column. Maybe in some strange way this did happen, I find it hard to believe. It sounded as if she was trying to hard. Overall, it was a decent work of fiction.
