pick any five books i know its hard so i guess you can pick a series if you want
flag
There are so many books that I still haven't read yet! But from what I've read so far/have become favorites of mine: the Bible, A Tale of Two Cities, The Three Musketeers, David Copperfield, and The Hobbit. And if I could squeeze in one more read, it would be The Princess Bride!
If I could only read 5 books for the rest of my life, being a senior, I would hope the rest of my life would be very short indeed.
I can re-read a few books over & over again, yet if that was all I was allowed to read, quite sure I would tire of them.
1. Illusions: The Adventures of a Reluctant Messiah
2. Johnathan Livingston Seagull
Both by Richard Bach
3. The Hitchhikers Trilogy by Douglas Adams
4. Easy Rawlings series by Walter Mosley
5. toss up between:
Bartlett's Familiar Quotations John Barlett
Billboard Book of Top 40 Hits by Joel Whitburn

I've posted the question of what are your top 3 books so here I'll do 5 books I haven't read that I should:
War and Peace because it's supposed to be incredible.
A Fine Balance.
Complete Works of Shakespeare - read many of the plays but he wrote lots of stuff, the little minx.
To the Lighthouse, and
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes, which I'd probably read first.

I wouldn't be able to do it. I read 5 books in 2 weeks (depending on the size and how much I like them). I really like to read. I know, I sound like a dork.
Les Miserables, Don Quixote, Pride and Prejudice, The Everlasting Man, and Mere Christianity
1. harry potter #7
2. Tricters
3. the last book of the Gallagher Girls
4. Hunger Games #3
5. Last book of the I am number four series.
need more numbers for my books.
got a lot of books

In no particular order:
Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy (just finished it for the 10th time and loved it as much as the first)
The Gate House by Nelson DeMille (Able to hold my interest through 850 pages)
Billy Strobe by John Martel (the best 'lawyer' novel I've ever read)
The Complete Calvin and Hobbes (humor that never gets stale)
The Complete Works of Bill Bryson (It may not exist, but it should!)

I couldn't narrow it down to just 5, but whatever I chose they would have to be VERY long books.
I'm surprised so many people chose a Bible - I've read it and I certainly would not want to read it again. It's too weird a mix of fiction and historical fact (often inaccurate at that) and I found it's characters far too inconsistent. I would imagine the people who chose that one, are the ones who haven't read it yet?

Jane Eyre, Harry Potter series, Heroes of Olympus, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Hush Hush
Undeniably Shakespeare's complete works, Cleric Quintet by R.A. Salvatore, Mistress of Dragons my Margaret Weis, Dangerous Fortune by Ken Follett, and The Lies of Locke Lamore by Scott Lynch. That was not an easy question.
What an interesting question! I would choose:-
1. Dictionary
2. Atlas (love pouring over all the maps)
3. Twilight series
4. 84 Charing Cross Road
5. Of Mice and Men
It would be SO hard as I read 2 books a week at least but I think these ones would keep me entertained for awhile.

Good question!
Lord of the Rings - a long and beautiful tale with so much history to it.
Our Mutual Friend (Dickens) - because it's funny and angry and sad and romantic all at once. Another long one.
Going Postal (Terry Pratchett) - I love this story of a conman forced to serve the people he hurt. Plus I don't think I could live without some Pratchett!
The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever (Stephen Donaldson) - only because I'm reading it at the moment, and would kind of feel cheated if I didn't get to finish it.
Robot Dreams (Asimov) - loads of stories in there, so hopefully I wouldn't get bored too soon!

Wow, this is a hard one! 1. The Bible, 2. The Shack by William P. Young, 3. The Stand by Stephen King, 4. The Harry Potter series, 5.The Complete Collected Works of Edgar Allen Poe
I could maybe pick five authors jane austern, charles dickens, stephinie meyer, dean koontz and c.s lewis or shakesphere but there is no way I could read only 5 books for the rest of my life- it wouls be unbearble.

2. Something from the Nightside Omnibus- Simon R. Green
3. Walking Dead Compendium 1- Kirkman
4. Love Hina Omnibus- Ken Akamatsu
5.Side Jobs- Jim Butcher

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, A Walk To Remember by Nicolas Sparks, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling, The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, City of Glass by Cassandra Clare
The list is bound to change of course, but for now, I cannot live without these 5 books! :)

Les Miserables by Victor Hugo; Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series (19 books); Nicolo Rising series by Dorothy Dunnett; Kristin Lavransdatter, trilogy by Sigrid Undset; The Ancestor's Tale, by Richard Dawkins. Limiting it to five is difficult!
I would probably pick five Harry Potter books. They are what I reread most often and I would miss the most! I would pick the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th
The first, third, fifth and seventh Harry Potter books, and another book of my choice...maybe a dictionary?
Shiver, Rules of Attraction, Where She Went, Vampire Academy Series and im not sure which other one
Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey and The Book of Swords Series by Saberhagen
Heroes of Olympus series by Rick Riordan; The Hunger Games series by Suzzane Collins; I am Number 4 series by Pittacus Lore; Artemis Fowl series by Eion Colfer; The Lord of The Rings series by J.R.R Tolkien.
Its hard to just finish here, though.

Outlander, Sense & Sensibility, Clan of the Cave Bear, Harry Potter 7, and The Princess Bride.
The Bible, Harry Potter 5 and 7, Pride and Prejudice and The Lord of the Rings. Jane Eyre would definitely be next on the list if 6 books were allowed. ;)
The Great Gatsby
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare
Finnegan's Wake
The Critique of Pure Reason
Dictionary
- also agree with Rainy about trying to take along A Princess Bride as a sixth, it never gets old. The Lord of the Rings would be a good one as well and it was originally written as a single book.

The Bible, Dune, Ann of Green Gables, The Republic,
#5 is a toss up but I think I would let it ride on The complete collection of poems by Robert Frost.
Crap I might have to remove a book and add in a dictionary. God knows, if I had the entirety of my life without the ability to look up a word or expand my own vocabulary I would be sad.

HarperCollins Study Bible-NRSV. Beyond that, which alone has enough stories with enough depth to consider for forever, again and again, I don't know what I would pick, unless
The Yale Shakespeare Complete Works
(maybe not this exact edition -- I'd hope for the chance to do some research). Again, an English-language selection with enough depth and diversity to last a lifetime. But, beyond those two, does one go to non-fiction, perhaps Montaigne? If fiction, how does one select among Tolstoy, Proust, Homer, Virgil, Dante, Pushkin, Cervantes, and so many, many others? And what about just a good sensible cookbook? Or maybe a dictionary?
1. The Bible
2. The Reef by Nora Roberts
3. Hamlet
4. A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein
5. Summer Sisters by Judy Blume
I chose these 5 because 1. I like Jesus
2. I have read it quite a few times and it still feels new and exciting every time I read it
3. There is so much in there that even reading it forever couldn't make me understand all of it
4. I have to have Shel Silverstein on here because he is amazing and I love his poetry but it was difficult to pick which one
5. I love this book and can read it over and over again and still love it (as is the case with many of Judy Blume's books)
And as a side note Stephen King's It almost made it on my list but sadly I ran out of numbers. P.S. Picking a series is so cheating.
