Michelle Rodriguez (michelle_rodriguez) | 1 comments I have always been an avid reader. I can remember dragging my mother to Crown Books after school once a week in grade school with $5 to buy the newest Babysitters’ Club book or Sweet Valley High. I loved the magic of reading a book and being transported to a new place, getting lost among words and images and finding a better world to exist within. At 13, I stumbled across my first romance novel, and it changed my life. I had no idea books like that existed! Of course, I had to hide my love story addiction from my mother, who asked me only once if the books I bought were those kind of books, to which I diligently answered as if I had no idea what she was talking about.

In high school, I wrote my first novel. Fifteen years later, and I’m up to 26 and still counting. I’ve always been fascinated with Gothic romances and would call my greatest influences the works of the Brontë sisters. Add into that an adoration for “The Phantom of the Opera” and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and for the most part, you have me! In addition to writing novels about vampires, angels, and demons, I write and post Phantom of the Opera stories online and have even had the honor of having them translated into German and Russian for worldwide fans.

The other side of my life is a passion for music, and I’m also an opera singer. I go from writing at 4AM to practicing for my next performances at 7AM and then onward to being a full time wife and mom with a 6 year old and a 3 year old. One would call my life insane, but I just call it “full”.

Opera Macabre

Count Aiden de Lazarus has grown apathetic to the world around him and the monotony of immortal life. Determined to regain his zest for vampiric pursuits, he chooses a mortal girl and bites her with the intent to drain her. Instead, her intoxicating taste and enchanting beauty stirs feelings he has long buried. Scared by such mortal feelings, he gives her to another vampire as payment for a debt. After eight long years, Bianca is still living a cursed life—singing on stage in Alexi's profitable opera and enduring the bites of the undead as part of his undercover auction when the stage lights dim. Doomed to become Alexi’s vampire bride, her future is bleak. Aiden is horrified to find Bianca still alive and Alexi’s prized possession. Her image has continued to haunt him. Now he must find a way to free her from the life he unwittingly condemned her to and prove that he, unlike the vampires she has known, can be a man worth loving.
