He does me also but Henry Crawford annoys me more.I want to punch him throw all of the book.

Mrs. Bennet (ditto)
Frank Churchill (a very ungentlemanly fellow)
The Eltons (although I get a kick out of them)
Wickham (the dirty dog)
Elizabeth and Mary Elliot (They treat Anne so badly!)
Sir Walter Elliot (ditto)
John Dashwood (I think I dislike him more than fanny because he goes along with her. I don't like 'wishy-washy')
Lucy Steele (she's such a cat. Poor Elinor)
GREAT list!!
Adding Lydia to mine!!
Who's everyone's top top bad character?
I think mine has to be Wickham!

Lydia Bennet. So shallow and silly and uncaring for everything around her. Ugh.

dilike the other two as well!

Lydia Bennet and Mrs. Bennet... ugh.
And Mr. Collins was kind of annoying too but he was funny also so he wasn't that bad.

Lady C and Mr. Collins were both funny but when I was imagining myself as Elizabeth I could easily find them obnoxious.
I guess!
Though I think she mostly found Lady C annoying.
But, at the verbal fencing match ;) she was not so amusing - Lizzy or Lady Catherine!
And Mr C, I think she was mostly annoyed by him yes. Especially when he comes to gloat on the fact that Lizzy didn't marry him (when Lydia runs off)

i don't like him either, but then, imagine NA without him.
This is why i love the last line, 'I leave it to be settled by whomsoever it may concern, whether the tendency of this work be altogether to recommend parental tyranny, or reward filial disobedience.'
Parental tyranny - if he had not interferred and got Cathy to NA, would their relationshipn have developed enough to the point of marriage, and the point of...
filial disobedence!
i love this line! really makes you think!

I'm reading Persuasion right now and I have almost all of Austen's books on my Kindle! They were FREE even! I'll have to read NA next. And is Tilney a Wickham-ish type or some other type of horrid character?
Let us know what you think of Persuasion.
Well, Henry Tilney is the hero. Captain Tilney is his brother and is a bit naughty and General Tilney is his father and is a bit rude. :)

Ah, got it.
I've just found out who Wentworth is in Persuasion. So far he sounds like a pretty nice guy. Anne better end up with him!

You guys are making me really excited (and expectant) for the rest of the book!

Top bad character?I think Willoughby wins for me but Henry Crawford and Mrs.Norris aren't far behind.
Mrs. Norris... the cat? LOL
Which book is she in?
Which book is she in?

Which book is she in?"
Mansfield Park. She is an evil witch.

1. Lucy Steele - conniving little vixen, so silly and spiteful and manipulative and clingy!
2. Willoughby and Wickham - same reasons really, each of them are dashing enough, but underneath lying, selfish, shallow, conniving, money seeking prats.
3. Lady Catherine - need I say more?
Those are pretty much the few that I pretty much hate from those books that I have read. I feel I have to point out that Mr Collins is not on my list, because at least until the end of Pride and Prejudice I was merely so amused by his silliness and presumptuousness and pompousness and idiocy, that I just laughed at him and thought that he mostly had no idea what a prat he was. So I find it hard to hate him, but it's very easy to be condescending towards him. But I do dislike him, certainly!
Agree about Collins - mostly he was amusing!
And good list... Austen has such a talent for creating loveable and not so Loveable characters!

:D Good way to put it "not so loveable". She does have amazing talent, doesn't she?

Mr. Elliot - I don't think much more needs to be said.

:) Do tell us when you are finished, so we can discuss it!
Can't wait to discuss Cat!!
Glad I held my tongue? Awful man!! I was like 'you wait' when you said you liked him!!
