I was reading in yesterdays paper that H&M is planning on carrying plus sizes and that the Limited is going to follow suit soon as well. Here's the catch, they will stop at a 3x. I understand that for these stores, this direction is a grand departure from what they usually carry and that this will allow for more current fashions to be available for less for larger women, but it is still not good enough. Until we can walk into most stores, and yes Lane Bryant and Catherines' this includes YOU, and buy ANY 4x and up size off the rack and find EVERY color, and EVERY piece of clothing in the store comes in my size, it's not good enough.

There are too many of us over a 4x that are relegated to "specialty catalogs" that claim to carry up to a 7x, but really only carry about 1/8 of their product in that sizes, or less. Many items that should be bigger, like girdles, panty hose and the like are only carried in smaller sizes. I know for a fact that underwear in my size (and I stress AFFORDABILITY here, this includes price and how well made they are)are frequently only available in white or beige with smaller sizes coming in all sorts of color and pattern.

So the message here is, if you are a 3x or smaller, you are acceptable and you are attractive but4x and over you should stay home.

That is unacceptable and not good enough. This may be a good first step, but it is still an incredibly small one.

Paul (merman1967) | 228 comments Oh do NOT get me started. I have been ranting on facebook QUITE enough recently. Drat... too late... can't control it.

Try being 6' 5" and 433. I often can't find big man clothes in the flipping big & tall stores!
Oh, they'll have pants even bigger than I need (what few ugly styles they carry) but the inseam will be 28" instead of 32". Or I can find dress shirts several sizes bigger than I need, in a lot of colors (but no fancy ones... fat guys don't have a need for fancy clothes because all we do is sit at the feed trough you know) BUT the sleeves only go down to just above the wrist. I MIGHT get lucky and find a white one, or MAYBE blue. I have a few more choices if I go short sleeves. And forget even considering a sport jacket or suit coat. Have to take a crap shoot and order online to even have a shot at one.

Oh, and check the catalog? What a JOKE. If there is a guy in ANY of the catalogs I have EVER received that has a waist larger than MAYBE a 50 I will eat my size 13 shoe. Darnit I want to see how clothes in my size are going to look on a man with at least CLOSE to my body size/shape. Bad enough they so severely limit what I can get, but to insult me by saying (yes I called and emailed and was told this) that no one wants to see my body size in print!

Oh, and last but not least.... the pricing. Do they charge more for the extra material? No, they charge a LOT more because they have you by the short hairs on the nape of your neck and they know it.

Sorry, I tried. Really. End rant.

I agree and language please. I am only 5'2 1/2" tall, so I'm a petite, right? Wrong! I have a long waist so I need the petite length in the leg, but a regular to tall in the rise or my captains quarters will be showing to one and. Since I am not one to go mooning the population or have a desire to be arrested for indecent exposure, this is a problem. Finding a color beyond black is a problem, finding a 6x is a problem and getting one in my size that fits is a challenge.

To all of you out there considering a career in fashion design, heads up! The standard of following perfect 18 in women's clothing is the biggest consumer rip off in history! Find real women and men to base your measurements off of and get a real idea of what true plus sizes are and how true tall sizes work. If you give a product we can wear, we will buy it.

Thank you:) There are times that I type the word I want to use and then go back and change it. Anyone who knows me off screen knows I cuss like a sailor dating a long haul trucker.

I am currently in an argument with JMS (Just My Size) division of Hanes. I was able to get underwear (NOT WHITE! :) )and it does not fit. It is the same underwear that I have been wearing all along, the same size, yet if I ever want to sit down or fart again, I am S.O.L. I originally couldn't get them past my knees, and with a little help, I got them to my hips. What a joke! According to THEIR size chart, they should fit, but they don't. According to Woman Within and other charts, they all say the same, I am a 14. We measured my hips last night. The 14's fit more like 13's. ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Stay tuned! I will let you know what happens.

O.K., I called JMS yesterday and while I must stress that their customer service is top notch, there is no product that can help me at this time and I am not a happy camper. I had to give up my beautiful product and buy what I can only hope is a better product than the last time I tried it at a much higher price from WomanWithin. I told the nice lady at JMS yesterday that I feel hurt and humiliated that a product that I have worn for years and in the same size, now does not fit. The fact that I have LOST weight should also be something here.......vey hurt, very humiliated.

Paul (merman1967) | 228 comments Sounds to me like they have changed the way they cut it... or at least the way they size it. I am SO sorry you experienced that. *hugs*

Perhaps, or it is that when you look at the apparel sizing chart, they say a 6x is a larger range of hip size, but the size range for a 5x matches with their size 14 undies......

So, I had to buy underwear from Woman Within, $35.00 for 10 pairs. 3 of the pairs barely fit, they are made in Pakistan, and so far (I have had them barely 2 months) I have had 4 pairs unravel. One pair came out of the package unraveling! These are not very good quality for the money I spent, but I had no choice in the matter due to sizing changes at JMS.

If you can find better and afford them, then do so and stay away from Comfort Choice brands from Woman Within.

Yesterday, I got a Just My Size catalog. What a joke! They are making a narrow effort to carry 6x in some, and I mean some items of clothing, mostly fleece shirts and pants (read sweats) and have narrowed down the panty selection down a size. The JMS brand (Hanes' plus size division) now only offers their 5 pack of panties in cotton up to a 13 for assorted colors and up to a 14 for white. Otherwise, it is $7.99 a PAIR for other brands to get a 14 in a color or a pattern.

JMS helpfully suggests that if you "want the roominess of our old style, just order the next size up." Sure, and how do I do that when you don't carry a 15?
