Retroactively starting this from January 2012. I'm not going to set a time limit on this one but just see how long it takes. Unless stated otherwise with an asterisk, all books are written by authors from the country the book is set in.

10. Russia: Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy

And Point Blanc by Anthony Horowitz for France. Can't say I recommend it but until I read something set in France written by a French author I guess it stays.
