Kim | 1499 comments Ok everyone time to nominate your books for the October Urban Fantasy read.

Everyone gets 1 nomination and 1 second. Cannot be a book the club has already read or the second in a series. Please include a small blurb on why you have chosen it. That isn't required for a second. Only 1 book per author will be accepted. This thread will remain open til we have 6 books or I think it's remained open long enough.

Please remember urban fantasy ≠ paranormal romance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_fa...)

My vote is for Midnight Riot by Ben Aaronovitch.

It first came to my attention via some good reviews and was referred to me as a kind of Terry Pratchett/Jim Butcher mix which appealed to me greatly.

carol. | 256 comments I'll second Midnight Riot. I really enjoyed the character, although I don't know that I would say it's quite as lighthearted as Pratchett can be.

message 4: by Daniel (new)

Daniel I nominate The Dirty Streets of Heaven by Tad Williams. Patrick Rothfuss hasn't stopped raving about it, so I'm intrigued.

I'll also second Hard Magic.

Kevin Xu (kxu65) I'll nominate Hounded by Kevin Hearne.

message 6: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathygreytfriend) | 122 comments I'll second Hounded, Hearne is my favorite new UF writer in the last few years. He has the perfect mix of adventure, humor and mythology. But Aaronovich is a great choice as well.
