1. Regenesis: How Synthetic Biology Will Reinvent Nature and Ourselves
2. Why Does the World Exist?: An Existential Detective Story"
I'm currently reading 'Regenesis: How Synthetic Biology Will Reinvent Nature and Ourselves'. It's very good, but just to warn you, it does get very technical. The ideal audience for the book is probably a DIY biologist. Still, the broad brush strokes of the technology would be of interest to all (and especially the aspiring polymath). I'm writing a full executive summary of the book that will be available by October 29 at:

Books that are easily obtainable through libraries are preferred. Any topic is welcome and encouraged, especially if it touches on a field we've never explored in this group.
Godel Escher Bach will remain a group read until the end of 2012, and will be the only book for October, as I've been too busy to organize anything more.
Thanks for your recommendations, and keep on reading.
