The Amanda Ripley book sounds interesting; not at either of the libraries, but I may ILL it some day.
Two comments on your review, which Chrome has yet to let me read all the way through - Korean students don't seem to have a job or any responsibilities outside of studying.
Plus, one of the reasons the No Child Left Behind act didn't work was because it was a dud. It incorporated all children, including the mentally challenged. I come from a family of teachers and school administrators. It was clearly obvious to them, and others as well, that many mentally challenged children, were not going to be able to keep up with their classmates, or to improve as required each year.
The idea sounded good, but promised miracles and failed.
