Moby or Not Moby: Give it a couple of minutes - I couldn't find a version without the theme and the opening little cartoon.
As luck would have it my electricity went out this morning and the generator didn't kick on. I'll come back to take a look. It looks like it'll be fun to watch.

"Nice Yarn," said the sailor
"for socks on the whaler."
Addressing the stout tailor
"I'm a nifty cabler."
"Oh I've heard," said the tailor
Addressing thin, tall sailor

:O) AVAST
That wool which is paler
when washed is much stabler
Not very satisfactory, but let me think about it some more... I may come up with another.
Someone else take a stab

I think it's Bettie's poetical ramblings, Vikk, inspired by her knitting a fisherman's sweater for her husband.
Or is it cabled socks, Bettie?

Oops, sorry. :) Not finished with my coffee. You are way out of my league with poetry. :) But now I understand. :)
oohhh.... *sigh*
I'll have to find that one somewhere. Is it on iTunes? (Probably not in Italy in any case...)

oohh.... "sigh" is right. :) Didn't know there was one with Patrick Stewart.

I'm not sure where all of you live but if you're in an area impacted by Sandy and the other storms, I hope all is well and that you are prepared and secure. Having lived through many Houston hurricanes, I can certainly commiserate. Do take care of yourselves.

Harper Collins has posted the original contract - hand-written - for Moby Dick.
What beautiful handwriting.
Glad you are fine, Tracey. I'm missing a friend who lives downtown in the West Village. I hope she is all right.

Just posting an update. I'm a little behind on my reading and will be catching up next week.
I also wanted to mention that I'll be on a silent retreat from Friday night to Sunday evening and I'm not sure I'll have Internet access. I may not be able to post the new daily chapter threads for Saturday and Sunday until I return. If anyone does read them, feel free to open up the thread.

Have a restful time, Vikk. I'll be away next week as well on business, and probably wont be checking in.
Just an update re Hurricane Sandy: finally heard from my step dad yesterday (!). They got power back a few days ago, but no phone service til yesterday. And my friend who lives in the west village finally went uptown to stay with a friend. So all is well.

Let's hope the storm last night didn't mess them up. Sorry to hear they are having problems, glad that it's better.
Thanks (re weekend).

Ack... There was another storm? Didn't hear about that.

I came back from the silent retreat totally exhausted and then discovered computer problems. I'm back now. Plenty to catch up on, it seems.
Well, I've got some serious catching up to do. I had every intention of throwing myself back into things but I guess my body and mind had other things in mind--even my wrists and hands have been hurting more than usual. But after 4-5 days of Alleve, I seem to be doing better.
Now, if I can just find my book under all this paper cluttering up my desk....

Happy New Year everyone!
Here's wishing that all your goals for the new year will be easily and happily met.

Happy New Year to you, Hayes, and to all and a whole lot of happy reading to us all.
I'll be pouring over the pages playing catch-up so I can finish on time. I miss that big white whale.

Okay, I am officially caught up reading-wise. Haven't heard all the audio or read the blog but I've read through chapter 113.
I'm just a little behind you at chapter 105... Hope to get caught up this week.
Hi Hayes, Great. I read all day Saturday, so I'll have to spend the next few days making my comments. :)
I did go and open up the next several chapters. Thanks for keeping up with that. The last few months I guess I've been in lock down. :)

My pleasure, Vikk. I added them as I was listening.
