Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Please nominate the fantasy book of your choice. And please read the rules.

All nominations must have a second. Only one second is necessary.

Authors, you may NOT nominate your own book.

Books must be available in a variety of formats, including mass market paperback.

You must use the 'add book/author' link when nominating the book. If I have to look them up, I won't include them in the poll.

The top two books will be our winners. Have fun!

Kenya Wright Days of Blood and Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2) by Laini Taylor

I don't know if we can nominate a sequel, but this is what I nominate.

message 3: by Kami (new)

Kami Smith Oh, I second Days of Blood and Starlight. The first book was fascinating, and I'm interested to see where the author takes us in the second one.

message 4: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Wright WOOP WOOP!!

message 5: by Jakub (new)

Jakub (jnareb) | 44 comments The Hob's Bargain by Patricia Briggs

I'd like to nominate The Hob's Bargain, a standalone book by Patricia Briggs, known from her "Mercedes Thompson" urban fantasy series.

message 6: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Oh! No, series nominations must be the first in the series unless the group has already read the first!

message 7: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Wright IS there romance in that book? Just wondering.

message 8: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Sorry. I always forget at least one rule.

message 9: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Wright awwww
has the group read the Daughter of Smoke and bones?

message 10: by carol. (new)

carol. Blood and Starlight has a Nov. 6 release date... not going to happen anyway. Please remember that the reason voting is done in advance is so people have a chance to get a hold of the book--which includes using wonderful creations like libraries.

message 11: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Wright Wow. Okay so . . . 1) first in series unless the group read it. 2) and book is in everyone's local library?

That will take "The Hob's Bargain" out of it too sadly. I can't find it in any of Miami's 25 libraries. ITs an old series.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 772 comments I'll nominate Legacies. I've already started it and like it quite a bit...bbbuuuttt I've ended up laying it aside to finish library books that have to be returned. If the group reads it I can go back to it, LOL.

message 13: by Kenya (new)

Kenya Wright That looks pretty cool Mike! I may second that, if I can't think of any others.

message 14: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments The Time Keeper The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom by Mitch Albom please

message 15: by carol. (new)

carol. I guess if you want to go for maximum participation, that would be the kind of thing to consider in nominating a book, which is why rules specify a number of formats, not just ebooks. The advantage of doing nominations far in advance does help people locate and buy cheaply, and allow time for shipping, so it doesn't preclude out-of-print. I've run into this before in other monthly reads, so I'm just sharing a few ideas for maximum participation.

Also availability in different countries.

Carol I think that is a great idea. Additonally, you reminded me about libraries!! I've been going over budget with my book buying latly and its been a good year since I went to the library! Thanks!

message 18: by Barbm1020 (new)

Barbm1020 I usually can't find the books that are chosen by this group, so anything you want to do is fine. btw I did get hold of Three Hearts and Three Lions by Poul Anderson and it's a good read. Three Hearts and Three Lions

message 19: by David (new)

David I'd nom SCOURGE OF THE BETRAYER by Jeff Salyards

No kindle or pbk copy in UK.

That's not possible, I bought this in Germany.

message 31: by Olga (new)

Olga Godim (olgagodim) | 85 comments I think by adhering to the rules of availability in any format in any library we limit our choices to the books published in the last decade plus a few classics. Lots of good but perhaps not oh-so-popular book are being left out because they are not available in either a)one's local libraries or b)any digital format.
Summers at Castle Auburn is a really engaging book, and original too, not following the latest trends. So is The Hob's Bargain. I would've seconded both, but it seems both are ineligible. Pity.
How about Tinker?

message 32: by Tz (new)

Tz I'd like to nominate Theft of Swords

message 33: by Olga (new)

Olga Godim (olgagodim) | 85 comments Another possibility: Troubled Waters
It's a recent book so it should be available. And it's a stand-alone novel.

message 34: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Tz wrote: "I'd like to nominate Theft of Swords"

No, we just read this in our sister group, Fantasy Book Club Series. http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/3...

message 35: by Jakub (new)

Jakub (jnareb) | 44 comments Tinker looks interesting (though it might be better fit for "Urban Fantasy" group).

Should we limit ourself to one nomination, and one seconding, or can we second more than one book?

You can nominate and/or second more than one book.

As I said not available in kindle on Amazon UK. I could try to get a paperback copy. or I could do what I usually do and shut up and not join in the reads because people moan at me.

message 39: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Tinker not available on kindle UK. Plus only copy is pbk and costs more than a hardback here does.

message 40: by Bev (new)

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Troubed waters available in different editions here in the UK.
