Based on our conversations in class, Arnold Spirit, the protagonist of our text, has many things about himself that he would like to change.

This weekend, we want you to discuss what your protagonist would change about him/herself. Make sure to specifically explain what he/she does not like and how it has affected his/her life.

Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Andy Chen | 44 comments In the book, "The Battle of thr Labyrinth, by Rick Riordan, Percy has one thing to change about himself and it is to stop acting stubborn. What he didn't like was not being part of any quest. Once, Tartarus announced a quest that Clarisse, a bully of Percy when he was a rookie to Camp Half Blood, was going to journey and complete the quest on her own. Percy then became furious that he wasn't chosen to do the quest, and was punished and have to do chores. Then, at night Percy snuck out of Camp, which was illegal and was part of Camp rules. He ran to journey with Clarisse. Percy would want to change because he cant just be annoyed and become stubborn to break Camp rules if he wasn't called for a quest, or wasn't chosen to be part of a certain quest.

In the book, "MockingJay," by Suzanne Collins, Katniss want to change something about herself. She wants to be a great leader/warrior when when comes to District 12. District 13 is taking privilege from District 12 by eating all your food and not save it, having more power than the Capitol of District 12, and taking out rights away. Katniss goal is to stop District 13 and do what is right. If she loses, and District 13 won; Katniss has to give herself to the District 13 Capitol and get killed. If she wins and District 13 loses her hometown District 12 will have her rights back.

Sydney Mok (SydneyMok) | 43 comments In the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, there are many Protagonists in my book but the protagonists is Anna. The thing that she wants to change is her self confidence. She always donates her blood and body parts to her older sister Kate because she has lekumia. Her parents always ask her to be a donner to Kate and even if they asked her, they wouldn't take no for an answer but when Kate needs a kidney and her parents tell Anna to donate it to her, she doesn't know what to do. Without the kidney, Kate would die but Anna doesn't want to be a donner anymore and doesn't want to have only 1 kidney so she makes a lawsuit saying that she wants to have control of her body and be able to do what she wants to do. She wasn't able to tell her parents this before thats why she needs more self confidence in herself.

In the book A long way gone, Ishmael doesn't want to change anything about himself. He wants to find his parents after he got separated from them in sierra leone while the rebels were attacking. Hes been fighting against the rebels, smoking, and becoming careless of who he kills. If there had to be something Ishmael would want to change, i think it would be to live in a safer environment where there aren't any rebels around. There was a part of the book where Ishmael was told that his parents were living in a house close to where he was walking. When they reached the house, it was burned. When he walked inside the house, there were no living bodies in side. But he thought they were dead anyway. Ishmael got so upset, he jumped the boy who showed him the way to the house. So therefore i think he would want to live in a safer environment so he wouldn't have to worry about his parents be taken away or killed by rebels.

His brothers think he couldn't jumped the rail. "Are you scare," Said one guy. But he did jumped the rail and faced his fears. So now everybody knows how Fenney handle things like a man.

Altamir III III (longdeoking) | 27 comments In the book i'm reading "Game" by Walter Dean Myers, what my protagonist would change for himself is not being so bad on his classes at school. I say this because if it wasn't for his work, then his coaches wouldn't give him always a bad look at him. Also, in order to be a good ball player, or to play in the NBA, you have to be good in school.

Gaby | 7 comments In my book Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher my protagonist Clay Jensen finds a shoe box-sized package that was propped against her front door . When she opens the box she finds 13 audiotapes . Once she listens to them she relizes that tey are from a girl named Hannah Baker .. Shes already dead .Whne she listens to them she learns that people will be watching her to make sure she listens to tall 13 tapes and make sure she passes them on . What my protagonist would change would be to never have opened or listened to the tapes . Because she can't handle te stress it brings her. "Hitting play the first time was easy a piece of cake . I had no idea what I was about to hear . But this time , Its one of the most frightening thing I've ever done." Here shes scared and somewhat stressed , Hannah was telling her that if she didnt listen to the book somehtng would happen to her .

Kenjo | 41 comments In the book, "Breaking Night" (Memoir) by Liz Murray, the protagonist named Liz Murray had been raised by loving but drug-addicted parents. Growing up in the Bronx wasn't an easy thing. If there was one thing she could change in her life, it would have been to stop her mother from drinking and using cocaine. Her mother grew up in a violent, abusive household. She ran away at age 13 and lived on her own. One of the reasons for this is because all the money that Liz's family had went towards the cocaine and drinking. They had no food or clean clothes. If her mother had stopped, Liz would not have been living in a filthy environment.

Corey | 43 comments In my book: Diary of a wimpy kid" By Jeff Kinney the protagonist Greg would change who he is. In his life, he makes things worse for himself. He was wearing his mother's robe until his dad hid it.One reason he might want to change who he is, "I'm the shag. I thought Rodrick would be impressed, but he just laughed. he told me Shag was not a real position," This means that Greg is always bragging about his life but instead he gets like payback. Greg really hated soccer but the most he hated was his coach.

Gabby T. | 22 comments In the book MockingJay by suzanne collins I think what the protanginst in the story katniss everdeen would change about herself or her situation is that she would have her sister by her side , and she would change all the deaths that happened.Meaning that she would want to change so that they would be alive. The reason I think this is because she becomes at the end story she said she made a book for the people who died in that she wanted to keep a memory of she mentioned prim, cinna, finnick ect. Also she almost did kill herself because of her sister death and she mentioned in the epilouge that she will never stop having nightmares of the hunger games and what happended.

Zoe | 25 comments The book I am reading is Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. One thing that Eragon would change about himself is being a Dragon Rider. Because Eragon is a dragon rider, King Galbotorix wants to capture him and make him work for the king. Since Galbotorix fails at catching Eragon, he sends Urgals after him and makes them kill anyone that is close to Eragon. It affected his life because his Uncle had been killed by the Urgals, and his cousin is also in danger.

Wesley | 50 comments i accidentally did this in 10/11 not this one

in my book the Mark of Athena, the trait that best describes one of my protagonist (Annabeth) is deadly pride. this is shown when she is always thinking about making herself shine and be the number 1. in the book this is supported when she discovers that Percy rejected another girl for her.
