Is it anything like Kickstarter? Can you reccommend a link?

Pamela Richards | 4 comments Some authors could probably get some money together to fund a writing project, or to promote one.

If it's like Kickstarter, I would need to get my project approved. For my own puropses, I like the idea of an intermediate project that could be used as a fundraiser for the charity my book supports. For example, I could raise funds to create calendars to be sold to support the folks (and horses) of Revelation Ranch in Appalachia. They have some important building projects coming up. I could offer premiums to donors like free copies of my book; others could offer craft items. I'll be busy creating a bunch of wildflower seed bombs; that could be included as a premium at a certain level donation. Hey! I gotta get with my people on this!

I haven't checked out Kickstarter, so I don't know how similar they are. A friend suggested Indiegogo to me, so I checked it out and started a campaign. I like the idea of yours, for promoting a charity.

Pamela Richards | 4 comments Hey, Larry!

Thanks for the affirmation. I know you like fundraising for charity, too. What's your campaign about, Larry?

My campaign is strictly a fund-raiser for marketing my book. I've had so many people say it needs to be a movie that I am putting all my energy into pursuing that goal. I realize there is a very remote chance of this happening, but I get the bit in my teeth and run, most of the time. I want to have some professional trailers made for Youtube, as well as hiring a narrator for the audiobook version, hoping to find "The right person" that may have ties to a major publisher or investors intereted in making a film based on an unknown author. I have some interested people here in Colorado, in the Colorado Film Commission, and have spoken with small studios from New Mexico and Alabama, but I need to generate some "buzz" to hopefully interest investors. I'd never heard of crowd funding, but thought it couldn't hurt to try it. All I have to lose is confidence....:)
