carol. | 2616 comments Please be sure to check the bookshelf to see if we have read your nomination before. If it hasn't been read in a year or so, we'd probably still list it for voting if there is a strong interest. Please also nominate books that are available in more than e-format, for those who still use paper.

We're opening this month up to any and all types of fantasy. Nominate away! Remember, nominators will be expected to help lead the discussion of their winning book!

I'll second it.

D.E.M. Emrys (d_e_m_emrys) | 18 comments I'll third that - it looks to be a good one!

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments I'll nominate Phoenix Rising since I need to get to that book shortly.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments I don't know... I looked at Phoenix Rising it looked pretty good, though I'm a little concerned it'll be another that turns from urban fantasy/steam punk to PNR, but I think I'll vote with MrsJ. It looks good and I won't know till I try. If it get's voted in I'll get it from Audible.

2nding Phoenix Rising. (I know we don't do formal 2nding, but that's cool.)

carol. | 2616 comments Well, since polling is heavily favoring a Ballentine read prior to January, I'll nominate her other first, Geist.

message 8: by Kim (new)

Kim | 43 comments If we are doing a Ballentine read for her visit with us prior to January, we should make this month a vote for which Ballentine book to read. I have no problem withdrawing my nomination (I'll just save it for Feb!)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments I have Geist also waiting on my shelf but haven't gotten to it yet.... This could get interesting.

carol. | 2616 comments Well, MrsJ and I can be flexible--we have ideas, but we like to see what the interest level is as well. So, if we had gotten/get a ton of nominations for December, but also a strong interest in Pip, we would have gone with two books. As it stands, its looking like a number of people are interested in a Pip book, but not a lot of action here. We'll probably give it another few days and see what the end result it. Normally on monthly reads we don't get more than 25 or so voting.

Great idea! I love it when you read my mind. :-D

message 12: by Jalilah (new)

Jalilah just want to say I'll give either of the Philippa Ballantine books a try

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 7282 comments Ok, here's the thing. We are having the Q&A for January with Philippa Ballantine.

People voted that they wanted to read the book first in December.

Do we want to read two books for December or one?

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 5387 comments I'm cool with one as I'll only read if I can fit it in and probably won't be "at" the Q&A.

message 15: by carol. , Senor Crabbypants (new)

carol. | 2616 comments I like the idea of one book for December--its a busy month. When was Pip free in January? Maybe we should read her book for December and then we'll have good questions for her.

I like the way you two think! It's a plan.

But what about the nomination for The Darkness that comes before?

And what books should I put on the poll besides what's mentioned here?

message 17: by Kim (new)

Kim | 43 comments I will nominate The Darkness that Comes Before sometime in the next few months. I have no problem retracting my nomination :)

Maybe we should poll for the first books in all her series?

Sounds good!

And thanks so much, Kim!
