It's time to start thinking about what book you'd like to read for December 2012. Make your nominations in comments below. Please be sure to use the "add book/author link" just above the comment box.

Don't hesitate to nominate something that has been nominated before.

By the way, we recommend that you do not nominate something that is too new. It can take months for new releases to become available in libraries, as e-books, and in other countries. Keep in mind that our membership is varied.

Nominations will be closed on October 25.

This book is also available for free as a PDF file. It is a NASA publication.

Eric Bingham | 73 comments The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat & Other Clinical Tales by Oliver Sacks looks like a fun and informative read.

message 8: by Rob (new)

Rob Dhillon (Rob911) I have been meaning to read Oliver Sacks book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat." It is available inexpensively in various formats, as noted by others, & is full of great clinical insights & stories.

message 9: by Angus (new)

Angus Mcfarlane | 73 comments I've just purchased Snowball Earth: The Story of the Great Global Catastrophe That Spawned Life as We Know It for personal interest - perhaps others would be interested in adding some geology to this years variety. Might suit those of you enjoying a frosty winter (or not!)

Eric F Knox | 7 comments I'd like to nominate For the Love of Physics or anything by/about Feynman.

message 11: by Omar (new)

Omar Rodriguez-Rodriguez (omarrr) Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries, a book by awesome Neil deGrasse Tyson.

It is an anthology of several of Tyson's most popular articles: The Nature of Knowledge, The Knowledge of Nature, Ways and Means of Nature, The Meaning of Life, When the Universe Turns Bad, Science, and Culture and Science and God.

Death by Black Hole And Other Cosmic Quandaries by Neil deGrasse Tyson

Death by Black Hole is an excellent book. But, it was our book of the month a few years ago.

Spillover: Animal Infections and the Next Human Pandemic looks like it may be a fairly new book. One place it says it was published October 1, 2012. Be sure to check availability before you vote for it.

Says first published January 1, 2012 - but a good point about availability.

Katy (kathy_h) | 181 comments I'll nominate Measurement too.

Measurement looks really interesting, but unfortunately it's pretty new -- just published in September. It's not available in Kindle format yet. My library does have it, but it's a pretty big library. In other words, be sure to check availability before you vote for it.
