I think given the reading yesterday, the narrator's voice (female) was so much more a distraction as the voice of Ahab or the thoughts of Ahab. It didn't have the power or the man's character ooze out past every word as it did yesterday. So for me the narration probably leaked whatever power might have been in the words.
I was thinking the same thing. It wasn't bad, just distracting.
When I finally got into the swing of it, I was listening to the rhythm, not the content. It had a very shakespearean feel to it and I found myself counting out the iambic pentameters. I may have to listen again to see if it works. It felt like hamlet, almost.

I'll give myself a little pat on the back right now... I just read the blog and indeed ahab's speech is in blank verse, which is in iambic pentameter. Miss Heydt would be proud to know that her poetry lessons are still with me... And I take back what I said in chapter 38. I did have a great English teacher at school.
Isn't that cool when that happens? Well done oh worthy student. Miss Heydt would indeed be proud.
