Jane (PS) | 24334 comments We have a week (roughly) left in October, and while everyone has probably started to think about their November reading plans, why not take some time out to let the rest of us know your thoughts were on the great, and not so great(!), books that you read during this month.

Everyone is generally pretty keen to pick up some good recommendations. It's all very subjective, but ... that's life!

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'm yet to read a Nicholas Sparks book - I think I'd go through too many tissues! ;)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Some great books in that list Karen... I'll be reading The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie in this last week of October - I'm really looking forward to it.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments My favourite read so far this month was
Holiday Outing by Astrid Amara . This is a pretty short story, but full of humour and choc-o-block full of crazy family moments :)

I also really enjoyed Houseboat on the Nile (Spy vs. Spook, #1) by Tinnean - it had a bit of repetitive narative which does annoy me, but I really liked storyline; it was fun for a detective story :)

My least favourite reads were:
A Wrinkle in Time (Time, #1) by Madeleine L'Engle - this audiobook was narrator by the author and it was just dreadful. I should have gone the paperback option...
Frost Maiden (Space Lords #1) by Michelle M. Pillow - very ordinary. Just didn't engage me :(

Fifty Shades Freed
Catching Fire
Mockingjay
Bared to You
Try Me
Try Me
Tempt Me
Laid Open
Marly's Choice
Sarah's Seduction
August Heat

I think I got them all, but I'd have to double check to be sure. I really enjoyed all of the books I read this month. I'm especially a fan of series and connected books!

message 18: by Juliet (new)

Juliet (yiinochi) Definitely The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley

MountainKat | 31587 comments When I look back at October, a couple of books really stand out - Lady Isabella's Scandalous Marriage, When Beauty Tamed the Beast and All He Ever Needed - all were wonderful! But I feel I have to include Oracle's Moon and Changeless too, they were both excellent in audio and probably would have been stand outs if I hadn't listened/read the others. The Locker Room and Hearts in Darkness were super sweet! And I also enjoyed Club Shadowlands, reading the second right now.

Hmmm, looks like I am pretty easy to please.... Honestly, I did leave off several books though!

message 20: by Ellie (new)

Ellie Ocean Bear, Otter and the Kid. Thank God I had the day off, I couldn't put it down!

Irish Moon by Amber Scott was alright, but I wasn't dying to finish it.

Hot Head by Damon Suede was great if you're into m/m.
