Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I have just seen the saddest news ever, it was on Maureen's Facebook page and I will copy it word for word below:

On Tuesday October 16th 2012, Maureen Stuart of Tarbolton, Scotland, passed away suddenly. Beloved daughter of Margaret and Hugh. A loving mother of Daniel and a dear sister of Billy. She will be missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local animal shelter, in honour of Maureen's love of all animals, dogs in particular.

For her online friends, please let the people that knew her know, as I don't have access to her other accounts.

If you wish to contact me, I am Paul Cluderay, her close friend. Feel free to send a friend request my way.

I am in shock and upset. May she rest in peace xxxxxxxxx

Love and miss you Maureeen

I have passed on the news to the moderator of one of the other UK groups that she was active in.

I am quite sure as a group we will want to send our sympathies to her family.

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments It's horrible :o(

I'm really upset by this.

Poor Daniel (and the rest of her family)

Edit: That doesn't sound right.. I mean I'm more upset than I thought I would be

message 9: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Oh how awful! I know a few of us have missed her lately but I thought it might be that she'd been away or had internet problems like before. Poor Daniel. It's such a shock.

Cornelius Harker | 830 comments This is truly awful. I really can't think of anything else to say. My thoughts are with her family.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments How tragic. really sad news. This was such a shock.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't know what to say - it's such a horrible shock. Like many, I just thought that we hadn't seen her lately because she was busy - didn't know she was ill!

:0(

Kay (Golden Girl) | 2193 comments Such sad news ,thoughts are with family.

message 14: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Last I heard she had been on holiday and was having internet problems. I just assumed that either it was still off/broken or when she finally got her internet back she had got out of the habit of coming on here...

message 15: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Yeah that is what I thought too. Elle and I were talking about her at the weekend and said she was a big gamer so would have been surprised if she hadn't had Internet for that long so thought she had just got out of the habit!

message 16: by Rosen (last edited Oct 24, 2012 01:23PM) (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I don't think I know Maureen, at least, I can't place her. Can somebody say a few words about her please? If I do know who she is, it will jog my memory and if not, I'd like to know a bit about this lady is who's clearly moved people.

message 17: by Elle (last edited Oct 24, 2012 01:29PM) (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Maureen was the person who used to religiously post the daily deal everyday.

She was one of those people that didn't talk so much but when she did it was always important and made a great point.

She had a young son called Daniel and a profile picture with such a beautiful smile!

This is her profile;

Maureen used to post the threads about the Daily Deal each day (until Jud took over cos Maureen wasn't online much) - she would often talk about her son Daniel. If you search on her name some of her old posts might jog your memory, Rosen..

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments She was Scottish and had a little boy called Daniel and a dog. I remember her telling us a story about them once on a Skype chat in the most lovely scottish accent.

Vanessa (aka Dumbo) (vanessaakadumbo) | 8459 comments Such sad news. My thoughts go to her family. She will be missed.

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Oh my God - she's young! I assumed with a name like Maureen that she'd had a long life. So very sad.

Yes, I do recognise her now, but only a passing recognition.

She's got books on her 'to-read' shelf. Ouch.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments I used to so enjoy it when Maureen joined us on Skype. She was always cheerful, happy and so full of life. I cannot take in that she is gone.

It has been a long time since I felt this sad.

message 27: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Geoff, that is what I keep thinking of too. On Skype and Her telling us stories of Daniel and having us all in fits. It is so very sad.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Oh this is so completely shocking!

Our lovely Maureen.

message 29: by M.A. (new)

M.A. Comley (melcom) OMG! That's truly awful news. Thoughts and prayers to Maureen's family! Damn what a shocker. :-(

message 30: by Linda (new)

Linda Gruchy (LindaGruchy) | 103 comments Sad news. Condolences to her family.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I keep remembering her telling us about Daniel getting into the talc and pouring it all over the dog.

Poor girl spent hours vacuuming afterward.

Daniel has just turned three.

I've also been spending some time re-reading the conversations she and I had in PM over the months.

She was always so full of laughter and happiness.

message 32: by Sharron-ann (new)

Sharron-ann Brazier | 2 comments Hi
I've just joined to post here. Maureen was a personal friend, she recommended this site to me a while ago, and I've just found the note she wrote me with the details on.
She would have been amazed to know how well liked and popular she was, although those of us who knew her weren't shocked by this!
Maureens funeral was held on Monday 22nd October, and was very well attended, such a sad day.
Daniel is doing well, I don't think he has worked out what's going on (he was 3 on Saturday), but his life is being kept as normal as is possible for him.
Maureen will be greatly missed in many places, from the local community, to the various forums and groups that she was a member of.
Sharron :(

Sharron, thank you so much for finding us.

It's a relief hearing that Daniel is doing well.

It was so sudden! Was it an accident of some sort?

The last she and I spoke, we were hoping to meet for coffee in the near future.

message 35: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Thank you for telling us about Daniel, Sharron. I know he's been in everyone's thoughts.

message 36: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments Thanks for getting in touch Sharron, it's appreciated. I didn't know Maureen well but I liked what I did know of her. Like everyone says she was always telling funny stories and was always happy. You could really tell that she loved Daniel more than anything else in the world, even when he covered the house in talc!

message 39: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It just makes me think that when we value our friends, we should tell them.
You never know when you won't be able to any more.

message 40: by Jud (new)

Jud (judibud) | 16799 comments I was thinking as much as I chat to so many of you on here, what do I really know about any of you? (apart from you all being lovely people which is what is most important)

message 41: by Sharron-ann (new)

Sharron-ann Brazier | 2 comments Patti (Migrating Coconut) wrote: It was so sudden! Was it an accident of some sort?

Unfortunatley, she had a heart attack. It was very sudden and unexpected, so much so that a heart trace half an hour beforehand showed as normal.
Daniel was the centre of her world, she worshipped him (even after the famous talc incident lol!), and he really is a lovely little boy, all credit to Maureen.
He's been round at mine a couple of times this week to play with my son, and has been his normal, happy, bubbly, 3-year-old self - including tantrums over the lack of sweet purchases in the shop!
The whole family is upside down over this - especially as it was so sudden, but they have pulled together to support Daniel, and are doing a great job.
It is really sad, but it helps to know that so many people cared about her.

Yes, please do. I wish I had told Maureen what a good friend she was, and how much I valued her friendship. I can't now, and really wish I had.

I'm sure she knew, Sharron-ann.

M.A. Comley (melcom) Thanks for letting us know, Sharron-ann such a sad and utter waste of a good life.

Wishing her family well. xx

Cornelius Harker | 830 comments Thank you for letting us know, Sharron-ann. Maureen was a lovely person. I'm still in complete shock over this. I can't even begin to imagine what her family and close friends must be going through.

Geoff (G. Robbins) (merda constat variat altitudo) (snibborg) | 8204 comments Quick for her, terrible for those left behind.

message 46: by Elle (new)

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Kept hitting me at certain points of the day that it means she is really gone. Still shocked to the core.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I'd love it when she'd PM me in the middle of the night after she'd spent hours playing her games and having a wee drop cuz Daniel was away.

We'd giggle for hours at the silliest things.

message 48: by Philip (sarah) (new)

Philip (sarah) Willis | 4630 comments Tragic news! My thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.
As many of you know I had the privilage of meeting Maureen a few months ago and she was every bit as special as she came across here on the forum, within minutes we felt we had been friends for years such was her warmth and humour.
She spoke so fondly of the friends she had made here and how much she enjoyed chatting with everyone and having a giggle.
The memory of that afternoon will warm my heart in the days ahead.
R.I.P.Maureen.

message 49: by Darren (new)

Darren Humphries (darrenhf) | 6903 comments This is very sad news. Maureen was lovely and I can't think of anything nicer to say about a person than that. I know what her family is going through and my heart goes out to them. Though I knew only through exchanging a few posts she made my world a little brighter and better.

message 50: by Katy (new)

Katy | 2662 comments Thank you for letting us know, Sharron-ann. It's tragic to think that it all happened so quickly... It still hasn't sunk in that she's gone. She was such a lovely person. My heart breaks for Daniel
