Elysa May I have read the first three chapters and I don't like any of the characters...I don't feel sorry for the girl, Olivia I think is her name...Caleb is just really twisted...does it get better?

❤️ Diana ❤️ Depends, you really have to have an open mind because some real bad stuff happens and at times you will not like Caleb. I myself liked the books, lhard at times to read because of the abuse. Little surprised you don't like Livvie, she is innocent and didn't deserve what happens to her. Not all books are for everyone so this might be one for you. I thought they were real good, as I said hard at times to read but worth it

Louise I love this series, it not my first captive story I've read..I read 'comfort book' before this which has no HEA when I was venturing on dark shelves haha...and that book is much highly grueling...
,there's love in this book I swear...the situation is disturbing , yes...you need to keep an open mind to get through this and went straight to their hearts both Caleb and Livvie...and you'll see it would be worth it:)

Tvchick It's not for everyone, may just not be your cup of tea. I did love these 2 books. I also felt a bit guilty about that fact. :) Caleb is the ultimate anti-hero. He's done such awful things...and continues to do bad stuff. The author does this amazing job of somehow making you curious about him, inviting you to not immediately write him off. Add dimension to what is truly a man who you should run away from as fast as you can. Olivia grows quite a bit, she's a very strong person in the end...just by surviving, really.

Elysa May Diana, Louise and Tvchick thank you for all of your comments...I have read a few more chapters and I must admit that I am somewhat attached to both Caleb and Olivia and I really don't know when that happened...it is very disturbing, but that is the point so I am going to push through b/c even if I wanted to stop I know that I could't...thanks again...

Terri (N.J.) Trust me, You have to keep reading. So intence and what a great story! It's one of my favorite Love stories!

50shadeslvr I experienced so many gut wrenching emotions with this story. Unbelievable as it sounds, I kept pulling for Caleb to become a better person. In the end, this story is about ultimate forgiveness for the one you love. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this story. It's the best 2 book series I've ever read.

Elysa May OMG...just finished Captive in the Dark...I cannot wait to start the next book...I cannot believe I am going to say this, but I am totally crushing on Caleb and I want him and Livvie to end up together...My heart was breaking when he was racing to get to her at Tiny's place and he didn't know if she was alive or dead and she was fighting for her life...thank you all for encouraging me to continue on...it was totally worth it and I will be starting Seduced in the Dark tonight...

Tvchick I'm glad you liked them! I loved these two books. Hard at times, for sure. But, worth it. I rooted for Caleb, wanted him to be a better person...to wake up. I need to reread them. I may just do that this weekend!

Louise "they fell in love in a hopeless place":)

LOL I love this. We need a like button for comments.

These books were my favorite read this year--and possibly last year too.

What is this even about?

50shadeslvr It's a story about human trafficking, revenge, etc. Caleb kidnaps a girl named Livvie. He plans on training her to be a sex slave and selling her to an enemy to be used by him. It unfolds into the most gut-wrenching story I've ever read. You will experience almost every kind of emotion while reading it. You HAVE to read this book! Not for the faint of heart, but you won't be sorry.

Elysa May OMG...just finished the second book...and am still crying like a baby...C.J. is an incredible author...I didn't really like Caleb and Livvie at the beginning of book one, but as of finishing the second book right now I am completely in love with both of them like they are real people...what a truly fantastic story with so many twists...I want her to write a story about Matthew and Janice...Again thank you to everyone who encouraged me to push through and finish the books...it was so worth it...

For readers? I wouldn't read it unless you're 18 years old. It's extremely disturbing and has content not meant for kids. I know a lot of adults who can't handle the books.

Wren Thanks. I had no idea that was what it was about!!!

P.A. Lupton What I love about the book is that it's thought provoking and that the author made me love the hero when I should hate him, but it is scary, disturbing and there are parts that literally had my stomach twisting in disgust. IT's hard to recommend the book because even though I loved it, I know a lot of people will have a problem with it.

KimeyDiann I feel the same way P.A. I want to recommend it to a good friend, but I know this book isn't for everyone... I'm torn on if I should recommend it to people or not. If I do recommend it, I will give them a strong word of caution that parts are really hard to read and I won't praise the books too much until after they have made it through the first one and liked it.

Yes, I think we all have a problem with it, on many levels. But, Roberts wrote a very good novel. It made me think about the situations, and from Caleb's prospective and then Lizzi's. And then the whole plot is hard to take in at first. It takes a good author to get you to like a character like Caleb. But I did on many occassions and disliked him on many occassions. I wanted to see Caleb changed so bad, and see him come from that deep pit of dysfunctional sexual identity to someone who could make Lizzie happy. And the book did just that. I loved it because Caleb overcame! Waay to go Roberts!!

Michelle Glad you gave it a shot. I felt so torn as well. But the fact that the author sways you 100% is amazing. Book 2 will break your heart. I felt horrible for loving this book for a few days.

Lorie I felt so guilty about loving this book. The writing was so good! I know I shouldn't like Caleb; but I do. He was a bad person and shouldn't be liked, he should be despised! All 3 of the books were really good. I don't really see these 2 actually having a HEA though. He was raised in a very unusual way and I don't know if he can really have a normal long lasting relationship with a woman
