Have you made something with Pumpkin? Dark Chocolate? Both?

Do you have pictures to share?

message 2: by Seawood (new)

Seawood Drat, I forgot to get a picture of the Chocolate Heartache - that had 300g dark chocolate!

Can I cheat a tiny bit and use a butternut squash? Turns out none of us like pumpkin! I'll be baking for Halloween Game Night tomorrow or Saturday. :)

Jon | 4 comments Not a squash fan, so worked on my brownies.
Any thoughts on the best way to upload pictures to group?
Bearing in mind i'm visually impaired so it has to be really simple.

Funny story...

A friend of mine worked at a store that sold 'Squash' and 'Pumpkin' pies. People were really adamant about having the kind of pie they liked. Turned out, they were the same pie, just put in different boxes. :)

So I say, sure...go for Butternut.

Here's a way to complete both with one recipe!

No Bake Chocolate Pumpkin Mousse Pie

Cory Day (cors36) | 3 comments Not baking, but I tried to replicate a restaurant recipe and made Thai pumpkin curry. No pictures - I overcooked the pumpkin and it just wasn't nearly as good as the restaurant's was - but I'll probably try again sometime. I have leftover pumpkin to use up, so maybe I'll bake something next time.

Last day for the challenge!

Please let us know here if you've done it. Did you enjoy what you made? Find any challenges in it? Would you make that item again?

message 8: by Seawood (new)

Seawood I did! I have a pic on my phone (cos I forgot to take one til we were half-way through! Need to figure out how to get it to Flickr, bear with me). I made the Stem Ginger Syrup Cake from RV&CH which was absolutely lush. It was a little soft in the middle, though - it seems everything that says "30mins" in that book should be at least 50min.

Doing some late ones for the weekend - we had planned to get a pumpkin today to do them properly but they'd run out, so we're sticking with squash. We'll do the light chocolate cake and chocolate peanut butter cupcakes, both from the same book (which tbh is all I use atm!). Will get some piccies up as soon as I can.

Seawood Here we go:

Stem Ginger Syrup Cake

Stem Ginger Syrup Cake

For reference uploading pictures is a real PITA here - it requires your link to end in .jpg, you can't just paste the Flickr link in.

Lovely!

Would you be willing to write up something on how you do it?

Theres | 6 comments I made both pumkin pie and pumpkin chocolate chip muffins! I will propably never make pumpin pie again... because if I have a pumpkin I would rather make chocolate chip muffins! They were amazing. The hardest thing (and probably the most dangerous) was cutting the pumkin into small pieces, but I didn't cut myself! :)I've got photos and if I figure how, I could upload them.

message 12: by Seawood (new)

Seawood Theres, could you grate the pumpkin rather than cutting it? All the recipies I use veg for require grating (although probably finer than I do it, it's never been a problem!)

Jute> if you click on "some html is ok" at the top of the edit box the syntax for adding an image is there (img src) - you just have to make sure the url you're using ends in a .jpg (or possibly .gif, that usually works too).

If you've got a photo on Flickr, DON'T click "grab the link" - click "grab the HTML/BB" code instead and look for the url which ends in a .jpg. Then paste that into an img src tag and Bob's your uncle.

in the past, when I've roasted pumpkin for using in baking, I've just cut it in half, scrapped out the seeds, put the halves upside down on a baking sheet and baked it. Once it was done and cooled I just scooped out the pumpkin.

Theres | 6 comments That sounded much less dangerous! I'll try that next time.
;-)

And here is what I made!!
Pumpkin Chocolate Chip muffins

Cory Day (cors36) | 3 comments Here's what I made, pumpkin gingerbread cookies... made before Halloween, but not uploaded until now. The pictures were just last minute right before packaging shots, so no composition like the lovely ones above...

Anyone done with their challenge yet? Anyone need some pointers or ideas?

message 19: by Cory Day (new)

Cory Day (cors36) | 3 comments Don't know if I'll get to making pizza dough, but I did make gingerbread. The recipe I use heats the molasses, sugars, and spices in a double boiler, so I've used the stove! I'll post a picture when I get it off my phone - for 'Movember' I used my mustache cookie cutters :)
