Most basic thing everyone should know is the double parenthesis (( ))
When talking out of character to another member during roleplay, you always use (( )) to let everyone know that it's you talking, not your character.
For example...
Annabeth ran through the woods ((Who will she meet?))

Here's a list of basic roleplay etiquette that usually gets good response when used
- If 2+ members are roleplaying back and forth very quickly, it's best not to interrupt the roleplay by adding another character. Best way to tell is to look at the time sequences in the tan bar.
-It's best to have your character enter the place that you wish to roleplay. If there are a few members who are already roleplaying but it isn't a rapid back and forth, have your character enter the room instead of pretending that they have been there the whole time.
*Remember! Sometimes if comments are made at the same time Goodreads will take a little longer posting one and it might not get seen by the other members*
- Use proper grammar so people can understand what you're saying. I'm not sayin spell everything correctly, use capitalization, etc. But it's easier for everyone to understand if you use these " "
-If you're trying to roleplay and nobody is responding to your posts, just move somewhere else and try again or use the Find someone to rp with thread. Someone's bound to answer eventually ;)

Oh and something else so that you don't have to go scrolling through EVERYTHING to find new comments, there's an Unread link near the top of the homepage. If you click on it, it shows you all comments you haven't read.
Ok, actual roleplay: The best way to figure it out is to go through and read some examples in this group. The only way I can think to explain it is that it's like you're writing a book, but with other people.
You create your own character in this thread:
After that, you go out and you roleplay!
Example:
Mary ran through the forest.
*Other person posting*
Joe ran into Mary.
"Oops! Sorry, Joe!" Mary said
*Other person*
"It's ok, Mary." Joe said
Except, not that boring ;)

You are supposed to use a picture, but having a celebrity is not required, it's just something that a lot of people do, as (at least for me) it makes it easier to realistically imagine the character. But you can definitely just use a random picture of a person off google, that's fine.

Thankyou!

Yeah, that's fine, as long as the description is detailed enough ahah

Not unless it's the child of one of the virgin goddesses (Artemis, Hestia and Hera).

i'm not sure if this is allowed here, but can you have two rps happening at the same time w/ the same character?

Technically, you can, but most people don't, just because the character's storylines tend to get sorta confused... Also sorry for the late response oops

You don't have to, you just have to make sure there is a spot empty on the character list. And there is, so go ahead!
I have a question. I know in the PJO series there was no one in the Hera cabin. Does that apply to this rp group as well?

Hi, Leia, glad to have you in the group! Don't worry, roleplaying in this group is fairly simple. First of all is just to go to the Character Creation thread and as the name suggests, create your own characters (as many as you want)! There's an outline at the top of the thread for what you should includes in your character profile. You don't have to be too descriptive, but we would appreciate if you provide more than one or two sentences. After you have a character, you can now go ahead and roleplay anywhere you want (just as long as you're not interrupting an ongoing roleplay) but if you want an easier way to find a partner to roleplay with, you should go to "Find Someone to RP with" thread and ask there.
As for roleplaying, it's very general. Try to be as grammatically correct as possible so your partner can understand what you're saying. Be fairly descriptive, you don't have to if both you and your partner don't really care for that. But the most important thing is to just let your imagination run wild and be creative! Hopefully, while roleplaying, your partner will be able to help you get accustomed to roleplaying.
Hope this helps! If there are anything else you are unsure of, please let us know under the Question/Suggestion thread! :D
