I can't decide if I want to read this one ASAP or wait for audio. I loved listening to the other Fevers in audio and would like to do the same for this one. Hmmm, to wait or not to wait? To read or listen? LOL!

Steph, I'll probably do both. But I often download and re-listen my favs if they are series keepers. The only worry is the Dani in past audio was so hyper and sounded like she was loaded on speed. Several hours of that just might send me over the edge.

I'm first on the library's wait-list so hopefully they get it in this week!

SQUEE! Just downloaded it and it's ON MY KINDLE! I'm such a fangirl of KMM. I would read anything that woman writes. I'm debating if I should finish my current book before starting it... we'll see how much patience I have.

I think I'm going to reread or (re-listen) to the series after (here and elsewhere) hearing all the gushing about the audio. I tried the first ones but couldn't get into the narrator. I think I'll start where she switched narrators. That's Dreamfever right?

(view spoiler)[I'm liking Dani as a narrator so far. KMM is keeping her true to the character that was portrayed when we met her, but not in an obnoxious way IMO. She's super arrogant (which I love about her), but uses her super-human qualities to help "her city". She knows she has an advantage and is using that to help the citizens who are at a disadvantage. This is where I'm liking her better than Mac. It took Mac a long time to reach a point where she was a badass heroine that used her strength/powers to help those around her. Dani is already ready and willing. She probably likes being needed by someone.

(view spoiler)[One of the things I loved most about the Fever series is the shades of gray. The "good guys" and "bad guys" aren't clear. Any character could be classified one way or the other depending on your perspective. We still have that same feeling in this book. All Dani wants is to help the humans but she's being awfully naive about it (obviously, she's only fourteen). She's keeps making enemies, not only with the Fae but with the humans. Of course, Ryodan, is arrogant and secretive and bossy. I'm still trying to figure him out and what his end-game it. I'm sure KMM will keep us guessing. I really like the POV switch to Christian! I hope we get lots and lots of Christian... I think we will. It's kind of weird that he admits being attracted to Dani, but he makes it clear what he's attracted to and that it's not sexual. And the fact that Dani has experienced way too much in her life to be considered a "normal" fourteen year old. He seems to be her protector. But I'm not sure how trustworthy he's going to end up being seeing as he's becoming closer and closer to an Unseelie Prince.

She went into what Rowena must have gone through. Makes me wonder how much of what she was doing was actually her. Don't get me wrong, I still hate the old bat, but maybe it wasn't all her? Maybe the book got to her when it was in the abbey? When I think there is at least one person I know FOR SURE is a bad guy... this gets thrown at me! I'm certain that Iced will consume all me free time so I'm determined to finish this other one first.

Got it last night.. yaawn.. and I just finished it.. I'm not going to be worth my hourly pay in the morning for sure.. and I'm not high on the payscale.. I've started the count down to the next book.. when is the release date again.. please please don't tell me its going to be another year.. uuughhh. oh yeah! I freckin loved it

I finished ICED this morning and it was epic. I loved every second of it.

Some thoughts...

Ryodan. It's obvious he loves Dani but we don't know why or in what way. (view spoiler)[I'm thinking he's her father. He's been watching her since she was just a kid. He says that he should have killed her over and over but is constantly protecting her. I don't get lusty vibes from him towards Dani. (hide spoiler)]

Poor Christian. He going from sexy Scot to sexy Unseelie Prince pretty quickly. I love how he loves Dani. He just adores her. But when he goes all Unseelie he gets a little obsessed. (view spoiler)[He's making some UK comments. He compared Dani to an Unseelie Princess. He talks about keeping her in safe place forever and eventually in a White Mansion. Will he be able to wait for her? Can he control his instincts? I hope so. I just loved him. He was my favorite part in this book. (hide spoiler)]

I really REALLY liked Dani as a narrator. She was so arrogant but rightfully so. She cracked me up! (view spoiler)[But WTH is she?? Is she what Ryodan is? Is she part Fae? I'm thinking that because of Christian's Unseelie Princess comments. Or maybe he just wants to make her HIS princess? (hide spoiler)]

So many questions with no answers. But I love it anyway.

16% and I am LOVING Dani's POV. She is so upbeat and optimistic and so very sure of herself. Ryodan makes me swoon. He seems like an older more controlled uber-male version of Dani. Must go read. The ONLY thing I don't like about any of KMM books is I read them too fast, lol

Yes!! He and Dani are a lot alike. Which supports my theories from above. I enjoyed Ryo but he didn't make me swoon. I saved all my swoons for Christian.

Christian is creeping me out ATM...(terrible KMM fan moment coming -->) He is turning in to an Unseelie Prince because of the reaction between his protection tattoos and eating Unseelie right? Or was it because of where he was at during the time he ate it? Just trying to make sure I remember correctly. I read Shadow Fever twice in a row when it came out and a third time two months later, but still...I have to many books on the brain, lol

Oh and Ryodan makes me swoon because he is so intense in all that he is, the intensity of the KMM males are like NOTHING else on this earth...they all make me swoon

I think it was a combo of all those reasons. I'm not sure exactly. I read Shadowfever too fast too fully comprehend.

Christian would make me melt and then he started talking about *spoiler* wedding gifts? Then didn't remember the conversation? He was getting a little loopy with the whole UP business. I loved Dani's cluelessness though. He's giving out lusty-vibes and all Dani can say is "What the feck are you lookin at?" Lol.

Now I can't remember why Christian was turning Unseelie, for some reason I was thinking it was from being in the fae mirror realm and stuck in the King's castle place too long. I might have to do a re-listen, I have the last two Fever books in audio too. It's all starting to blur together, I was in a more Barron's obsession... Christian who? At the time.

Hahaha, me too. I read these books way to fast, that's why I had to read Shadow Fever twice in a row. I think he was turning Unseelie because of a combo of all three reasons but just wanted to make sure I remembered correctly. Since that seems to be all of our opinion I'll stick with it.

I thought the same thing. He doesn't keep as many secrets, and if he does he's actually (somewhat) nice about it. I'm glad he's not the same as Barrons and that KMM is created two arrogant constant jackasses but are still two very different men.

Great minds think alike Breann...I was going to say the same thing and include this quote from Dani I highlighted... "Barrons breaks heads. Ryodan turns them inside out. Barrons fucks you up. Ryodan makes you fuck yourself up" Same outcome, different approaches, two very different men. Both sexy, lol On another note, I am really liking how she's included snipits of Mac and Barrons, but this book is still all Dani, it's not over riding her story (so far) Of course I could ALWAYS use more Mac and Barrons :) Oh and I just remembered that KMM is notorious for leaving the Fever books in gut wrenching cliff hangers...so I'm trying to prepare myself for that :)

Since this was a crazy week and I didn't get past chapter 1, did a rewind/re-start and using for dark fantasy Bingo shelf too. Kinda glad I did, Dani's thoughts are bouncing all over the place and I missed a few things in my first pass with her re-cap.

I'm finally getting a chance to get into it. Ryodan, Christian and Dancer have all made an appearance and hinted as objects of attraction for Ms. Dani. My problem is that she is only FOURTEEN!

So moving along and after a for-fecking-ever, a feckity-feck and a fecking- rah... I had to check and its there 283 times...

I don't know I cant get a read on what he feels for her but it is something. Ryo being drawn to admire her was hinted at the first time we really ever saw Dani and Ryo together in the Fever series, and at the beginning of the ICED there were a couple of hints but now that I'm towards the very end, he seems to not be thinking in that direction, but he doesn care deeply to keep her alive for whatever reason. He's so hard to read though and this book being in Dani's POV there have been sexual inuendos that go right over her head, so maybe she wouldn't notice if he did feel that way? Idk, Two out of the three hinted love interests are immortal and they both have said that waiting for her isn't a problem, and it doesn't gross me out because it's her personality and mind and high spirit what-not that attracts them to her, not her girl body, lol

No, it doesn't weird me out. You're right they've made it clear what they love about Dani (although Christian has issues with staying true to those statements). And Dani is well beyond 14 in her worldly knowledge. (but still has really cute clueless, innocent scenes) But I have convinced myself of the relationship between Ryo and Dani. To the point where I know it's true, without a doubt. :) wait... right??

I am liking it, Dani is a little much at times... The addition of a few POVs helps, a few more might be nice to break it up. I'm also thinking, if she can freeze frame thru one of those random fae realms and age about another 5-6 years might be cool too. KMM and YA is tough for me to adjust to, again just thinking...

Up to Chp 25 - well well well Dancer is turning into a strong little character... And Christian, ewwww! And he's the one I've liked all the way back to KMM's Highlander series and those sexy MacKeltars.

Lol... And I liked Christian and all his UP craziness. He was my favorite! I felt so bad for him though. All his references to unseelie princesses and white mansions is a little unnerving though. Hmm... makes me wonder what KMM has up her sleeve.

Since finishing ICED I now have a big gaping hole in my life. Time to start back over from square one....Dark Fever here I come. :)

I was thinking of getting the series in audio. But I'll probably wait until the next one comes out. I don't want to get myself all psyched up and then have to wait a year!

At Chp 37... Starting to feel like de ja vu all over again... Dani runs around, gets in trouble, pissed Ryo finds her, scolds her, shuts her up at Chester's... Dani escapes and runs around, rinse, repeat...

Finally finished it late last night... It took me a little longer than normal because I think Dani just tires me out... Overall I liked the book. A lot of Dani in the beginning gets a little much so I needed a few rests. Ryodan is really a strong character added to the mix too. I just can't see where his relationship with Dani is going, (view spoiler)[ not sure if its a future love interest paring or more of a fatherly need to take care of... Hmmm... (hide spoiler)] It was nice to get a few additional POVs towards the end and seeing Dani thru the eyes of others. And of course we got a couple of KMM cliff hangers in the end. With all the build up and busy activity we get a pretty climatic end but for me all the build up just fell a little short.
