You can if you want to, LynnB. Are you going to add an extra spin on it?
For me, Mt. TBR is to get through my GR to-read list whilst this one is to help me actually phycically clear my shelves (all my print editions).

Challenge Focus: Series
Method of Selection: will list the first ten books that are part of a series on my GR TBR list. The series that I have started and will continue will have complete lists, other series lists will begin with just the first book, and will decide from that book whether to continue with the series or not, at which point I will add the rest of the books in the series to the list.
Series I plan on tackling:
Series: Wheel of Time (currently on book 4)
The Shadow Rising
The Fires of Heaven
Lord of Chaos
A Crown of Swords
The Path of Daggers
Winter's Heart
Crossroads of Twilight
Knife of Dreams
Dirk Gently:
The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul
Castings Trilogy
Blood Ties
Obernewtyn:
Obernewtyn
Chronicles of Narnia:
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
D'Artagnan Romances:
The Three Musketeers
Pillars of the Earth:
The Pillars of the Earth
Shopaholic:
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Divergent:
Divergent
Miss Marple:
Murder at the Vicarage
Books read: 1

Of course, now I can see the difference! These two games will be great in my getting piles down at home and shortening the list at Goodreads. Yay! I like the idea for this one to be reading one book in each pile. I have them in bookcases, but they're stacked there (more books to the shelf, of course).
I'm going to start in the bottom right corner of the biggest bookcase and move across and up, reading one in each stack. Each shelf has about six or so stacks.
ooh! I've just finished Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother - that was really tiring... you'll see what I mean when you read it. I don't know where she's got the energy or time for her parenting style ;p

I've heard others say that too. It should be interesting to see what she did at least. Just thinking about it makes me tired though :)

Unless, of course, you are like me and my Goodreads TBR IS the books I own. Of course, on the list they are both e-books and print copies.
My task will be to clear my print editions for reviews, which consists of the following:
Memoir of a Good Death
You Know Your Way Home
The Girl Who Swam to Atlantis
Shadow of the Flags
Bright and Distant Shores
The Doctor's Wife
The Last Victim
There may be one or two more sitting around, and I will add them to the list when I get a chance to check.

Btw, did you mean to spell out 'rainbow'? Seems to be missing an 'a'?

It is for a RAINBOW challenge but part of A was that the books had to be read in August so that's been and gone now, but thanks for the double check :-)

I thought that was the case, but just in case :)

I get a "page not found" when I try that link. Is there a typo, or did the page maybe get moved?
Also, I thought I'd share what my husband and I initiated a few years back to try to keep the piles in check. (He is also a compulsive book acquirer.) We had just built floor-to-ceiling bookshelves on every wall of our large basement room, and still didn't have room for every book to have a space. Once we cleared out what we needed to, we promised ourselves that either of us could only bring a new discovery home if that person found a book at home she/he was willing to part with in order to make space for it. It doesn't always work, but one thing it's done is that, when I see something I want in a bookstore, old or new, I check first of all to see whether I can get it from our library. As a consequence, these days I pretty much only buy books that are on my GR "to read but can't find" shelf.
There are still way too many books I'm unwilling to part with, but I'm much pickier now about what books I only want to read, and which ones I truly want to keep.

sorry, Susan, it appears I forgot to include the "http" part :p
That's a good discipline on you & your hubby's part. Do you know bookmooch too? It's a book swap site (international, if you're willing to pay for intl shipping) and sometimes, you do get good ones that you'd want :)

That is the hardest thing, isn't it. Deciding which ones you just want to read and which ones you want to own. I used to think that I had to own everything that I was going to read, but I, too, have become a big library user over the last few years. For me it is more of an economical decision, especially since I have two boys in college.

Thanks to the people who thought of using a randomizer! I've been stumped on how to approach this, and finally have an idea I like: I'll randomize the non-library books that are taking up space on the bedside table and the shelf above the bed (A few of them have been there for years, but that's also where new books go when they arrive.).
If I'm really unwilling to read a book when its turn comes up, then it stays on my GR TBR list, but the physical book will be banished to the basement bookshelves (which is often the kiss of death - out of sight, out of mind). The only exceptions will be the science fiction encyclopedia and books which fall later in a series. That means I'm randomizing 37 books. It doesn't sound like a lot, but there's not that much space, and I seem to keep reading things that have to be returned to the library first; so this pile only seems to grow, never to shrink.
(1) Interface - finished 11/18
(2) Schismatrix Plus
(3) Red Prophet - finished 2/20/2013
(4) The Golden Grove
(5) Cities in Flight

I had to amend my list as, when I reviewed the printed version, I saw that two books were listed for #6. So, now I have 11 to read.

Me, neither. I was just thinking that I need to at least start one.
I did incorporate 5/11 in my reading plan for SRC Winter Challenge, so potentially I can read 5 before the end of December.

OK...another game that I am continuing. I listed 11 books that I wanted to read. I have managed to put 9 of them in my reading plan for SRC group. If I get them done by the end of February, I will be pleased.

Object of the Game: To knock off Mt TBR as much as we can in the next 2 months
Okay, we're coming up to the end of the year and I'm sure your bookshelf is begging for you to clear up some space... for your new books, that is, ha ha ha.
So, we'll be opening up this (#5) challenge all the way up to NYE to make sure we clear up as much space as we can! However, NO re-reads allowed. This challenge is strictly for your TBR books only (ie. books that have been on your TBR before today, 29 October 2012). Hence, clearing up space for NEW TBRs ;)
This challenge will depend on how you have organised your bookshelf. The challenge is to read from each category / section of your shelf.
For example;
I have my books in alphabetical order of author's surname so I'll be reading a book from each alphabet of author's surname. I am only going to read books I physically have (ie. print ones). I'm pretty sure I don't have a book for each alphabet so I won't be reading 26 books!
If your books aren't sorted in any particular way, for example, there's a stack here by the bed, a stack there by the desk, another stack by the kitchen bench, you can read one book per stack. Or... if your shelves are divided into squares, then you can read a book per square. This is up to you, Be Creative!!
This challenge is leaning towards clearing up some space at home but if you wish to work through your GR to-read shelf, you're welcome to 'create' your own 'challenge' too.
AFTER the read...
If your book is, unfortunately, not a keeper or if you love it so much, you'd like others to have a chance to read too, then I would encourage your to actually clear up some space by...
1. donating your book/s to a charity organisation which has a second hand shop that would accept your book/s and sell them; or
2. donating your book/s to your library; or
3. registering them on Bookcrossing and release them to the wild; or
4. listing them on your site of choice for a swap;
5. just giving them to a friend / family member who you think would enjoy them;
etc... etc... etc...
Please note, we are not telling you to give your book/s away but only "encouraging" you to share with those less fortunate :)
Let me know your goal (ie. how many books you'd like to "clear" out of TBR by NYE)
