Jon (jonmoss) | 529 comments I started reading this a couple of days ago. Bought the ebook, since most of my friends here at GoodReads gave it four and five stars. I'm about half done and I'm really enjoying it so far.

Hanne (hanne2) I started a few days ago as well and liking it so far. I did need the dictionary button of e-reader a couple of times though. The author seems to really beautiful, but slightly archaic (?) English words... 'Cantankerous' is my favourite so far.

Sandra (sleo) | 1913 comments Hm. Might have to give it a try.

Oops, that's not what i meant. Sorry! :)

Anna-louise | 81 comments I wasn't going to join in with this one but I will after I finish The Magicians. I've heard lots of good things so I'm looking forward to reading it.

Cantankerous is a great word. I call many a customer that but ssshhh don't tell my boss! :)

Adrianna [SypherLily] (sypherlily) | 59 comments I'm waiting on my copy to arrive. I needed to get it via interlibrary loan!
I'm expecting to like it, but I'm truly hoping I do since the last two reads I really didn't enjoy.

I read this ages ago but am trying to find my copy to reread. I didn't think cantankerous was out of usage.

Candace (cprimackqcom) I did not think I would like this book at all. But I picked up a cheap copy and I was completely surprised. I wrote a review and when I figure out how to post the link, I will do so. Have been trying and failing! great writing, GREAT characters!!

message 10: by Bev (new) - rated it 4 stars

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Read this before and I may reread it if I have time. Prefer Morningstar by Gemmell if I recall correctly.

James (jimboh) | 4 comments This is one of my favorite books of all time. I will probably reread it this month even though I read it a few months ago.

Elise (ghostgurl) | 1028 comments I read this a few years ago. I remember it being an enjoyable read, but my memory of it is pretty fuzzy now.

Harriett Have just downloaded a sample after reading this thread..hope its good:)

message 14: by Todd (new) - rated it 5 stars

Todd | 36 comments I don't think I will be able to get a hold of Magicians easily, but I do have Legend in the unread book pile. Magicians puts me off, working in a highschool really detracts from any desire to read about a highschool kid.

i am currently reading Magicians and it does not come across as a school book at all so do try it.

David Sven (gorro) 20% in and enjoying it so far. Appears to be solid meat and potatoes fantasy - Warrior monks, axe wielding heroes, barbarian horde with a leader who really likes his chicken.

Joseph | 1651 comments About 100 pages in and really enjoying it so far. I think the only question is whether I'm going to continue further into the series when I finish this one.

Think I'll have to get a new copy, I'm keen to reread but can't find it!

It's available in eBook format if you roll that way. I was tempted, but since I already had the paperback I couldn't quite bring myself to rebuy it.

I would go the e-book route, I am sure it's in the house but no idea where exactly.

message 21: by Todd (new) - rated it 3 stars

Todd (Motorcycleman) I'm getting towards the end and enjoying it - more so the themes than the story. I like Gemmell's style a lot. I ended up getting a copy online for 3.50 free shipping from abebooks, really nice condition, a cool older edition too. I'm a sucker for print still, especially since you can resell/trade/share easily. I have the kindle app on my phone and tend to use it when I have an impulsive I NEED THIS NOW moment, but I feel like I spend too much that way.

Linette Almost half-way through, and the various different groups are beginning to come together. Enjoying this quite a bit.

Alvin (linopaloma) am having difficulty finding this book. almost 10 days left before december.

David Sven (gorro) Just read the meaning of the six walls - describing the psychology of a siege or death. I believe Gemmell wrote this while being tested for cancer, so I wonder if the walls were a metaphor for his own state of mind.

Yeah, I think that's almost certainly what was going on. I think Legend was Gemmell's reflection of his struggle with his own mortality.

Mach | 116 comments I have ordered this book and will read it as soon as i get my copy, I am currently reading my first Gemmell book Dark Moon, if Legend is as good or better then this one, which by GR reviews it seems to be im gonna enjoy it alot.

Gabriel | 6 comments Picked it up yesterday. I'm liking it so far. I loved the prologue.

Matthew (thorn969) | 43 comments I started reading a few days ago, about a quarter done. I read this when I was a teenager and found it rather long-winded and boring. I'm enjoying it much more now, especially the wry satire.
