Anyone do Interp (OI, DI, HI, etc.)?

It's where you perform a scene by yourself and you have it memorized, and you do it either as a monologue or where you yourself are many characters. Make sense?

Definitely this one. It is close to my dream which is to act.

It is the closest the main difference I can see is that you cannot move much. At least for our 4n6 we only have the size of a hulahoop to move.

4n6??? What's that? I'm helpless here. Not good at memorizing. I'm the artistic type: drawing, acting, writing and not the high IQ type. :S

What is Interp?

This isn't exactly Interp, but I do Storytelling. We aren't allowed to move for OI from the waist down. Or maybe it's the knees down...

DI is Dramatic Interpretation. DI is close to HI (Humorous Interp) because they both have to be memorized. DI has to be...well...dramatic (although it CAN be humorous) and HI is funny. When doing OI (Oral Interpretation), you have a baby binder with your script in front of you. In each of these, you just take a piece of writing (or perhaps several in the case of OI) and present it according to the category. Hope that makes sense! :)

Right now, I'm doing an HI. Personally, I prefer Storytelling (which isn't interp, I know, but...), but they didn't have that event for Districts.

HIs are cool! They don't have Storytelling where I live :/ The first time I heard about it was on here. What is it exactly?

You choose a children's story and put it in a baby binder. You have some freedom of movement (I believe the rule where I live is you can't move your heels) but not that of an Interp piece. You have to do different voices, etc. This is the story that I'm doing for my HI, but it was my Storytelling piece too.

Duos are usually/sometimes children's stories. That's about the only time I've seen them in pieces.

My favorite phrase: I pop like bubble wrap.

So my team made buttons with speech phrases on them and my absolute all-time favorite is: "Don't worry, my kid talks to walls too."

AHHHH!!!!!! That is GREAT!!!!!!!! Oh, my gosh, that's hilarious!!! So true!!! So, my mom walked into a tournament several weeks ago, and she told me later that she was a bit concerned because she saw all of these people talking to walls, warming up, etc. :D

It really did take some time to get used to...but it's soooooooo much fun! And I'm totally going to miss all of those seniors next year. *tear*
