I had on hold both books by Emma Donoghue but the newer book came first?!

No, I haven't. I just read the plot summary here on Goodreads. I'm not sure if I could read it lol. It sounds very dark but in a very real way. I might be to chicken to read it lol.

I just bought the first two Monster High novels in paperback last night. I've been so curious to read them since I love seeing the diversity of the dolls we sell at my store. I'm over halfway through the first book. It's kinda shallow and overly prissy in some ways, all the extensive detail on brand name clothes every time they get dressed, and the word puns are KILLING me. "Voltage!" "FANG-tastic!" But somehow it's still got me hooked. o.o

I can't stand an over abundance of detail. -_-

I just bought and (one Georgette Heyer book has lots of French and some of the classics I read do too,I will see if I can translate it in english or at least get the jist of it)

ACT prep book, Stealing Kevin's Heart, The Company of the Dead, 101 Things you Didn't Know about Jane Austen, The Wedding Dress, Bless me Ultima, and Bringing up Bebe. I work at a library and check out books almost every night :) I haven't gotten to any of these yet! I need more hours in the day ;)

101 things you didn't know about Jane Austen is really great.I learned a lot I didn't know about her and her novels.

Bought these books so far for the month of December. I usually allow myself 5 new books a month :)

Nice. do you have kindle? if so, most of the above books you mentioned have been free for kindle on amazon because I got them for mom's kindle.. and those kind of books are always free.

Hi Deb! I do not have a kindle. I know it would prob'ly end up being cheaper in the long run, but I really prefer having an actual copy of the book! :) Thanks for letting me know!

I love to have an actual copy of a book too. But I also love to be able to get great books for free! ;)

Lately checked out 2 books:

1) Wolf Hall ~ Hilary Mantel
- wanted to read Bringing Up the Bodies so I figure I should read the first book. My habit is if I find a book that I want to read is a sequel or part of a series I have to read the previous books because I'm afraid I'm gonna miss out on something in the series. Plus I just want to get the whole feel of a series.

2) Bloodsucking Fiends ~ Christopher Mooore
- Moore is a hilarious author. Got introduced to him by reading the second book of this series You Suck which I didn't realize at the time was part of a series. So I basically read the books out of order. Now I'm reading the very first in the series. I'm thinking after I finish with this I'm gonna read the other books again, but in order this time lol

I've never read anything by this author, but I'm always open to trying someone new! :)

Just borrowed and read Rise of Empire! Soooooo good! Highly recommend if you are a Tolkien person. Can't wait to get my hands on the next installment.

I just brought today.

Ok, technically didn't buy it...but I received it for free from the author himself, Tom Barry. I got a copy of his book

Just wanna give him a shout out for his generosity. Don't know many authors who do this for his twitter followers.

I checked out from my grandmothers bookshelf. So far it is good. The funniest thing so far is that one of the characters stated "A beaver's testicles, powdered and dissolved in water, can restore an idiot to sanity." I had a very hard time not giggling when I read that.

Hoping to buy The Fault in Our Stars and To Kill a Mockingbird soon.

I just received in a giveaway and is on it's way in the mail! Christmas gift from my mom :)

I definitely will! I hope to start it as soon as it graces my the steps of my front porch :)

I've read all of her novels prior to this one, and I'd have to say that my favorite is probably Lady of Milkweed Manor, however, most seem to like her others better. I just felt this one had the most punch emotionally :) But they are all really, really good :)

ohh thanks! I am a hopeless romantic so the most romantic one would be best for me, which do you think that is? I can't wait to read her books :) (clean) regency romance is my perfect genre!

They are all very romantic!! LoMM is probably the most sad, and The Silent Governess to my memory seems to be the most romantic. But so was The Girl in the Gatehouse. I recommend reading them all. If you like regency-set stories then you can't go wrong :)

Well my favourite is Julianne Donaldson's Edenbrooke - so good!
Heidi Ashworth - Miss Delacourt Speaks her Mind (and sequel Miss Delacourt has Her Day)
And also... Amanda Grange - she does a great diary series for the heroes side of the story in Jane Austen novels and also she does her own regency romances which are great (favs... Titanic Affair. That would be a fairytale. The Silverton scandal. The earl next door. (Really I could list them all!!))
