Luna Bliss | 1 comments I think I'm doing this right...?

Hi, all. I just joined because I've been tearing my hair out trying to find this picture book I used to love when I was a little kid. I remember very little about it, except that it was long, beautifully illustrated, featured a young, curly-haired boy who went on adventures (possibly in his dreams?), may or may not have featured the Roman god Neptune, and might have resembled The Neverending Story. Also there might have been some seahorses involved.

I know this is very little to go on, but if anyone knows of any books that sound at all like that, please please please respond! My mom can't remember it at all, and even though it's not that important, the fact that I can't remember it is driving me crazy (kind of like when you've had a really amazing dream and you can only remember tiny details when you wake up).

Thanks!
Luna

Sorry, Luna, I don't recognize that book, either. I hope someone else in the group will, or that you'll find it elsewhere.

If you do find out what it is, please let us know - it sounds interesting.

Darrin Sounds like you may be looking for "Little Nemo in Slumberland". It was a comic strip from 1905-1910. Can't recall if Neptune made an appearance but the illustrations are magical.

Luna Bliss | 1 comments I do know "Little Nemo" (mostly because of its influence on Maurice Sendek's In the Night Kitchen), but that's not it... I agree about the illustrations, though. :)

I wonder if Luna ever identified her book....

Hmm.... Well, I think here in Children's, I won't worry about the rules we've tried to enforce in WNB.... We'll just let it sit here.

I never did... I'm still open to suggestions, though; it continues to bug me to this day. Thanks for leaving it to marinate, though.

Hm. I just thought of a couple, but neither are picture-books.
