Short Story Contests discussion

Hey everyone! I want everyone to be recognized for the talented writers they are, here in the group! I posted the following in most of the writing groups I belong to:

Hey everyone!
I’m not sure if you’ve heard of the group Short Story Contests, here on goodreads, but it is a group where you write a short story each week and at the end of the week there is a poll in which a winner is decided. The winner get his/her story up on a piece of writing that is currently on my profile and up on the Short Story Galore website. We now have quite a few stories on both website and the writing on my profile. They are all exceedingly enjoyable and are perfect for people who have a little extra time and are looking for some good reading material. They’re all different and very well written. Please come read and comment! Also check out the group! Anyone who likes to write will love this chance to get feedback on small stories, good practice in writing, and a chance at winning a contest with some creative thinking.

If everyone could do something similar in their own groups, including all the links, that would get more feedback, members, and attention to everyone's talent in this group. Please don't do it in any group that I have already done it in (we don't want to spam people here) and please put it in appropriate groups (that have people who would be interested, not just like a music fan group or something) under appropriate topics (i.e. not under any random discussion. Either post it in already provided topic post for writing links, or create your own). Hopefully we can get more feedback for everyone, and publicize this group!

I hope everyone's having fun with this group! If you have any idea's, don't hesitate to share them! Post!

no really, i'm running on like no sleep, and a mcdonalds mocha. therefore i have forgotten the definition of "subside" >.< so yeah.... i'm just confused... :P

actually, i picked it up on the way back from guitar last night. yeah, i'm living off a mocha THE DAY AFTER i have it. that, my friend, is how low on fuel i am running. and therefore, i now go to bed. >.<

LOL!!! wrong. just wrong. please tell me u at least put it in the refirgerator...

hmm? oh, no i didn't save it- i drank it soon as i got it, and lived off of the bit of energy it gave me for the next day or so :P

hey, can anyone help me with the bookshelf part on groups on goodreads. What exactly are they for in these groups? I'm confused. Help please.

The bookshelf, to answer an inquirer, fills up with books. As a group the members may fill the bookshelf up with their reads. OR group members may add their book choices the members are required to read later. All of this depends on the group style and it's creators plus the members. It could be required to read some of the books on the shelf to be a member in a group. In others it's just to share common interests. Did this helped?

Just a note, we have never required a book to be read in this group. I think people add books more just to share some good ideas for the other members in this group.Just thought I'd mention it...
